Red Bull do that every year. The pre-season one last year was also :datass: , IIRC

Yes, it does look rather neat.

Hoping it might go a bit quicker than their recent run of tractors too.

The McLaren and Alfa do both look really nice, I’m sure I saw a post from them saying its only a one off livery though for the Alfa.

The Red Bull looks so good - shame they have to go back to the usual shite livery.

Is the Alfa one final? Interesting pattern.

Think I saw that the Alfa one is purely as it launched on Valentine’s Day.

I quite like the matte red Ferrari have gone for, looks good with the black accents as well.

And remember the now black Marlboro logo totally isn't tobacco.advertising because it is black.

Have you seen the front wing on the Sauber? It's radically different to the others, almost a mirror image of high and low bits, almost nothing flap wise at the edges and then huge raked sections between the inner wheel and chassis.

No, I have no idea how the white accents on last years car could have been subconsciously advertising Marlboro :shifty:

The front wing on the Sauber/Alfa is very interesting, I imagine a lot of the other teams have plenty of stuff they’ve yet to show. It wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of teams just put a basic front wing on for show and the real ones will rock up in testing.

That's usually the case.

Anyone remember the days where teams wouldn't launch their new car until the Spanish GP about 5 races in? They used to race B specs of last year's car until Spain and then that car would be replaced by the new one. IIRC it was Ferrari that started this new car at the start of the year by turning a crap year into early development, leading to stealing the march on everyone by having a new car ready at the start. That was also when they were able to run it at their own track 24 hours a day.

It's also how Honda/Brawn ended up being so utterly dominant that year. The car was so strawberry floating appalling at the first race that by the second they agreed to.write off that season and not develop it at all, effectively giving them a full year to work on a car instead of 4 or 5 months. When Honda pulled out everyone who knew what they were talking about were dismayed because all.the data suggested the car was over 4 seconds faster out of the box compared to the current field (so.about 2 seconds faster when everyone bumps to that year). Double.difuser aside, the front wing in particular was really advanced

I think if Honda had stayed in F1 the 2009 car would have actually been running KERS as well, might not have made much difference but if they’d have been able to develop the car throughout the year it could have been a much more dominant season than it ended up being. Considering the Mercedes engine/gearbox was thrown in last minute you do wonder how much quicker it could have been with the intended set up Honda had worked on.

There’s an article based on Honda’s 2009 challenger as well, the battery for the KERS was actually going to be located underneath where the drivers legs were.

Article here,

I remember Honda used to have mouse ears (small wings) on the front nose and it was ridiculous. :dread:

McLaren did that the same that year, while BMW had some very strange shaped appendages attached.

The Williams looks loads better in the actual pictures rather than the renders.

When i first started watching F1, new cars would rarely appear at the first race, in fact, in 1992, the B spec '91 Williams was so good that the proper '92 car didn't make it's debut until the first race of '93.
