Hamilton seemed to be an extra sour bitch today.

Seems like he could have stayed out for the win but if not, definitely got the 2nd place. Must be nice being in Mercedes place where you can casually toss away points like that to keep your 2nd driver happy.

Leclerc has been handed a 15 second penalty, dropping him 6th to 7th. Was given 5 seconds for the crash with Verstappen and then a further 10 for Leclerc/Ferrari refusing to pit to fix the damage.

Racing Point have also submitted a 12 page document claiming that Renault are cheating with their brakes, saying that they’ve pre mapped them for the duration of the race. Probably a slam dunk DQ if true.

Both Renaults have been disqualified from the Japanese GP for running an illegal braking system.

I think they’re lucky to only get DQ’d from the Japanese result, as there’s footage of them using the system back in pre season testing (sure it was pre season) as you can see the brake balance change on its own throughout a lap. I could see them getting all their points taken off them until this weekend, I doubt they had it in pre season and then didn’t use it till Suzuka so if it’s deemed illegal for one race surely it is for every race they ran it at, maybe they’re just analysing the evidence from other weekends to further investigate?

Edit, https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/rena ... 77/?nrt=54

Amazingly they’ve actually used this system in previous seasons, I wonder how they’ve actually got away with it for so long.

Grosean has come out and said that he raced with the system back in 2015

Renault are seemingly trying to get themselves thrown out of the results, anything to have a sound reason to leave F1 after 2020

Do they still have the 110% rule as if so they could just build a car so slow it fails to qualify.
They should just turn up in a Renault Clio and try and qualify that :shifty: .

Yeah they do, it’s actually only 107%. I can’t actually remember the last time they enforced it though, if the driver in question has done a lap near the cut off in practice they just let them race anyway.

Get them all in Clio RS’s, would be like one of the opening cups in a Gran Turismo game.

Max just admitted he didn't slow down after the crash, so I imagine a grid drop is coming for him.

Verstappen handed a 3 place grid penalty, his own fault as he already had pole in the bag by that point :fp:

The first stint had the hallmarks of Singapore all over again, far too much tyre saving going on again, well that’s what it feels like anyway.
