More bad news, as neither Channel 4 or Sky will have The Chain as their respective theme tunes this year. Sky managed to bag it for their advertisements and trailers, but Universal Music‘s demands were apparently “not feasible” according to Sky.

Greed, greed everywhere.

Have Sky ever used The Chain before for their programming? Kind of petulant that they’d start a bidding war with Channel 4 this year and ultimately nobody has it (apart from maybe BBC 5Live, who have a different arrangement with PRS for Music).

First time for Sky using The Chain for their coverage. Typical Sky with their restrictions for CH4 the interview pen thing is so petty and ridiculous do they impose similar restrictions like that on Football Golf Tennis etc

Fair play to Honda too. Ricciardo must be pissed off.

Can’t help but feel sorry for Williams :(

Not going to make any comments about who’s currently leading the pack but I’m not surprised that Mercedes look to be challenging for the top 3 along with Red Bull and Ferrari, midfield looks quite close from the FP2 times, be good to see just how close once the weekend is done and dusted.

I agree that I hope people just decide to not sign on for Sky Sports F1 in protest.
Surely they should look at the fact that just because Match of the Day exists doesn't mean nobody bothers watching football on Sky so I don't think having decent F1 highlights on C4 will help draw in people to watch entire races as opposed to just highlights.

I was never gonna be able to sign up to Sky F1 anyways, too bloody expensive.

Yeah pretty much

It’ll be interesting to see if we get a repeat (in a sense) of 2018’s race, where everyone else was much closer in pace to the Mercedes than in qualifying or if they really have got such a huge performance advantage. On the plus point the midfield is looking very tight which should lead to some good racing for 7th backwards (on a normal weekend where all of the top 3 teams finish).

Dat sandbagging :datass:

Wasn’t Ricciardo’s move more about 2020/2021 though. Albeit that’s probably a bit naive too

I might be mistaken, but am i right in thinking that Verstappen's 4th is the highest quali position for a Honda car since their return?

But it's button so he gets absolutely not credit.

Looking into it Button actually qualified 5th but Rosberg and Vettel had gearbox penalties so he started 3rd, so on pure pace it might be their highest qualifying position, still a good effort from Button to get 5th although I recall the weather was shocking, luckily Button was pretty handy in the wet most of the time.

Ferrari :fp: allow Leclerc to close up that whole gap, get in DRS range for an overtake, then tell him to back off behind Vettel. May as well pit Leclerc for fastest lap attempt now
