Stupid penalty, I hope the stewards have to release their explanation for it as that's a ridiculous decision.

Yea not sure what Vettel was supposed to do there. I mean sure he made a mistake but I don't see how he could have come on safely with Hamilton as close as he was. It's also killed the race.

That’s the thing, the stewards will just say he rejoined unsafely when it was close but ultimately fine. Maybe the FIA want Mercedes to win every race?

Really bad behaviour from Vettel. The guy just loses his head so easily. Brilliant entertainment though :slol:

Yeah Vettel was not happy  immature to change the position signs round at the end but still funny

Good on Vettel to say not to boo Lewis (if they were of course) but it’s fine to boo the decision, still think it was a very harsh penalty in my opinion as Vettel was still fighting for control coming back on but as they say, the referees decision is final. People want hard racing but then they penalise hard racing, just doesn’t make a load of sense.

Bottas had a bit of an anonymous race, still think the Renault pair had by far the best race overall and Gasly finished well done on Verstappen despite starting ahead, third of the way into the season and he’s not really shown much to deserve that seat, still only had one memorable race and that was Bahrain 2018.

What a fix!

Vettel made a mistake, and as he rejoined the track he was basically a passenger who simply had to try and stop himself from hitting the wall.

It's the worst stewarding decision i've seen in years, in fact the last time i saw something quite as dumb, it was when Lewis was penalised at Spa in 2008.

What's the point in having close racing when every time there's a bit of action, the stewards hand out penalties as if they are sweets?

Seb has every right to be angry!

Yeah it was bullshit. As he says, he was counter steering to avoid hitting the wall. Lewis could have gone left to avoid and then pass him and it wouldn't have been given a second thought.

Ferrari are intending to appeal the decision by the looks of it, doubt it will change anything though.

I'd be beyond surprised if that was successful.

Of course it won’t change anything, they probably just want to further highlight how ridiculous the penalty was.

He also got 2 penalty points on his super licence. Such a shocking decision. What makes it worse is that they had all the time in the world to review it from multiple angles but somehow came up with a decision that virtually everyone thinks is wrong. You could forgive it in sports where a referee has to make an instant decision, but here it just looks bizarre and you can't help but feel there must have been some kind of politics involved.

Apparently he was penalised because after he corrected the snap of oversteer when rejoining the track the wheel was then straight when looked at in slow motion, so they’ve basically penalised Vettel because once he rejoined and corrected his car he was going straight not to move away from Hamilton :fp: also as is the same with most sporting incidents almost all of them look far worse in slow motion than at normal speed, this whole incident lasted a matter of seconds, Vettel and Hamilton both did well not to collide.

I am not Vettel's biggest fan but that steward's decision was a shocker.

The only excited person on the podium was the Mercedes girl. The sombre, awkward mood didn't stop her spraying champagne in Vettel's face.
