Go on Bottas :toot:

I’d be delighted if he can keep this up all year long, Hamilton nearly always gets stronger as the season goes on though so we’ll have to wait and see. It might be early in the season but there’s no chance Ferrari or Red Bull challenging for the WDC or WCC in 2019, might get the odd win as it goes on.

I think it really is weird where Ferrari’s pace from pre season has gone, granted we shouldn’t read too much into them but from pre season everyone was expecting Ferrari to walk it, the times backed it up as well with Mercedes seemingly slotting in close behind. I was expecting it to be close with Mercedes but so far it’s been a breeze for Mercedes (Bahrain being the exception so far).

I think it says a lot about the current TV deal whereby YouTube have uploaded a highlights video before Channel 4 are allowed to go anywhere near it.

I couldn't even be bothered to find a stream earlier, I just watched Bottas' pole lap on Reddit and didn't feel like I missed out on much. If it wasn't for finding the technical wankery so fascinating this Sky deal and Mercedes domination would have completely killed my interest in the sport.

Honestly i am only paying attention to F1 when it shows up on my FB feed or on Youtube or twitter as soon as i read who is on pole or if anything happens crash wise or incident wise, its all over those channels fast. I can see what happens within minutes on Instagram or FB as it get's uploaded straight away. I have not watched any highlight's on CH4 so far & probably won't for the rest of season.

The tv graphics are the worst they have ever been, chequered flag & the time counter graphic is barely readable i noticed at end of Q1 :dread: :fp:

Terrible for the most part, only excitement came from K-Mag, Grosjean and Sainz fighting at the end. Of course the Haas boys shouldn’t have been fighting so hard, looks like Grosjean suffered some damage of sorts as he dropped off K-Mag quite quickly.

I actually want to see Mercedes get a 1-2 at every race this year (the car and drivers are certainly capable of doing so) just to see what the reaction from the F1 management team would be to a team utterly destroying the rest of the grid. I know Mercedes deserve the results, they must work insanely hard and fully utilise their insane budget (something Ferrari clearly does not do as I believe they have comparable budgets) to have the best car, best engineering team and so on. I would say having a huge technical shake up is what we need but frankly Mercedes would probably still come out on top with a huge advantage as well.

I can’t actually recall a team ever having five 1-2’s in a row either, has it happened before?

To my knowledge that has never happened before a team winning 5 1-2's in a row, it never happened in 01-02

*yawn*

Change the script F1, please!

Yesterday i found myself looking for an alternative...

...at least with Indycar, you never know who's actually going to win, plus Marcus Ericsson crashed again.

The worst thing they can do is change the rules to stop Mercedes domination. The other teams need to be forced to catch up. When they change the rules like they did in 2005 to stop Ferrari winning, it started a trend of teams giving up mid season to focus on putting everything into the next year. It led to teams like Honda, BMW and Toyota eventually giving up as they were just sinking money every year when they came out of the gates too far behind to catch up.

There needs to be a real pause in the spec for a number of seasons to close up the field.

Ferrari are probably at a point already where it isn't worth sinking development into the 2019 car and should focus on 2020 and write this season off. And we are only at Spain!

F1 is in a battle with Game of Thrones for the title of worst season ever.

Just caught up with the replay. Penny for Ricciardo’s thoughts, finishing behind both Toro Rossos probably not what he had in mind when making the switch to Renault.

The Formula E in Monaco was good at the weekend though. Some good overtakes but a bit quiet for the standard of a Formula E race.

gooseberry fool race.

We went to watch truck racing in Pembrey this weekend, it was great fun, free (becuase some nice man at the camping pitch next to us was mates with one of the competitors and gavr us free tickets) AND it had more ovetaking than you could shake a Mercedes at. Highly recommend checking small racing events out at any tracks local to you.

I was referring more to the fact that this season is becoming a total bore.
