The reverse of what happened in 2016 is what you do, promote Kvyat, and send Gasly back to Toro Rosso.

Shunt Alonso in?

I actually think JEV is a good shout. Formula E season is almost over too.

While Alonso would probably be able to jump in and be more or less on the pace from day 1 I don’t see Red Bull taking him on as he does seem to play a lot of politics behind the scenes which they may not want. He’s also never been part of the young driver programme, whereas JEV has.

Nigel Mansel's still alive lets give him another try :shifty: .
He's only 65, I'm sure he'll do fine.

Genuinley never thought that record would fall. Been the festival of speed a few times and one of them was when that pikes peak car tried to go for it, and still finished a relatively large distance off the record.

I still think the Pikes Peak Suzuki is the best looking hill climb car ever.

Ex-F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has said he would stand in front of a gunman trying to shoot Vladimir Putin because he's a 'good guy' and that he wasn't behind the assassination attempt on the Skripals.

The 88-year-old billionaire thinks Putin would have been 'too busy' to have carried out the Novichok attack in Salisbury, and that people were making things up.

Mr Ecclestone told The Times: 'If someone had a machine gun and was prepared to shoot Putin, I would stand in front of him.

'Why? 'Because he's a good guy. He's never done anything that isn't doing good things for people.'

The ex-F1 boss also said he thought Putin should be running Europe and that the invasion of Crimea was just to 'bring Russia back together.'

He added: 'I would like him running Europe,' he says. 'We haven't got anybody, so it couldn't be any worse. He does what he says he is going to do . . .

'I am not a supporter of democracy. You need a dictator. As a dictator, you say, 'This is what I am going to do.' In a democracy, it gets watered down.'

The 88-year-old was also dismissive of the fact that Russia was responsible for the Novichok poisonings in March last year in Salisbury.

He said: ''He didn't do that. He would be too busy to be worrying about that sort of thing. Storytellers make these things up.'

It is not the first time Mr Ecclestone - who stood down at the CEO of Formula One in 2017 - has stirred controversy.

He was previously forced to apologise when speaking in praise of Adolf Hitler, saying he was a man that could 'get things done.'

This is what happens when you inhale too much petrol.

Bernie lost his marbles years ago, so it hardly comes as any surprise.

Classic Bernie

Norris and Sainz are being retained by McLaren going into 2020 as well.

Seems like it may have been a rogue tweet that was put out, announcing the end of their partnership with Haas as they are running Rich Energy branding at Silverstone this weekend. It wouldn't surprise me if it was just for Silverstone though and the tweet was put up the wrong side of the Grand Prix although probably in a more professional manner (still a top tweet though, saying how finishing behind Williams was unacceptable ).

Silverstone announced until 2024 as well :datass:

I've been loving the Haas/Rich Energy shitshow. Bearded loudmouth seems to have been given the boot by Rich Energy shareholders and got all bumpain about it.

Seems to be the thinking that it was the chap with said beard who put the tweet out? Regardless I don’t see them continuing for the long run, like ROKiT Williams who’ve just extended their deal further (although sadly for Williams I doubt the title sponsor spot probably costs that much comparatively).

Also random question, has anyone actually seen a can of Rich Energy drink? I have never seen one so just wondered if anyone else actually had or if it’s just all a myth!

Might be only available in certain countries, just like how Paramalat was seen on F1 cars for decades even though it wasn't available in the UK.
