I believe it was 0.013 gap between both of them.

Incredible.

Great pics! Thanks for taking the time to scan them. Some heavy nostalgia there.

Vividly remember seeing that Alfa in the hands of Tarquini at Brands Hatch in 94.

Simoni binned the other one but nevermind.

I've got a picture of me sat in a 97 McLaren f1 gtr. If I find it I'll put it here, I've got proper 90s curtain hair :dread:

Great pics ^ ^ I've got a few I particularly love from Goodwood FoS a few years ago. Being so close to such historic cars   These aren't as good as pics above (and are a bit huge. Sorry to any slow computers). I felt a weird emotional connection around some of these - particularly Jim Clark's Lotus and Senna's McLaren.

Maldonado thought Ferrari were going to sign him:

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/mald ... s/4530975/

"I was the only one, I was the new guy in F1,” Maldonado said in an interview with F1’s Beyond The Grid podcast.

It’s like [Max] Verstappen at the moment. Like Robert Kubica at his time. I was the guy at the time. People were coming to me, they were happy to talk to me, and they were happy to discuss me.

Well I for one would support Maldonado in a Ferrari, especially when you see just how crap Seb has been this season.

Correa, the other driver in the Hubert incident is in an induced coma with severe respiratory failure. Hope the poor guy pulls through :(

Was reading this just now about the accident, and the Spa circuit bosses want to replace the tarmac runoff at radillion with a gravel trap.

https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/14580 ... off-debate

This is the same corner which only a few years back, had a gravel trap at that very same spot!

The gravel traps were there for a reason, and i do wonder that had they still been there, then the F2 car might not have bounced back on to the racing line. I've long felt that tarmac runoff is more dangerous, especially after Carlos Sainz had a huge shunt at sochi and the tarmac runoff did nothing to slow the car down.

On a separate note, found a few more retro motorsport pics to scan, hope you like...

Has anyone seen the F3 crash today this morning? I’m on my phone so can’t embed it from twitter app. Some absolute genius thought it was a good idea to put a sausage kerb on the outside of parabolica. It’s completely arrowed Alex Peroni straight up a mile into the air where he’s flipped and flown into the barriers. How he has walked away from that, I have no idea. The halo may have just saved a life.

Whoever put that kerb there should be fired on the spot

Edit: let’s try this:

Very nasty crash, he landed very close to one of the marshal posts as well. The kerb he hit was one of those ‘sausage’ kerbs, far too high to try and stop drivers from even thinking about going there.
