There's some great touches but the best has to be Verstappen being employee of the month every time except for Latifi for Abu Dhabi last year and Tsonoda for his fortunately timed stop this year.

Was confirmed yesterday that Ricciardo has gone back to Red Bull as sim and 3rd driver, on one hand an odd move but on the other if the team still rate him higher than Perez and could get a second Red Bull driver back in the seat they’d probably go for it. All it’d take is for Perez to have a poor start to the season and rumours will start about him being swapped mid season for Ricciardo.

The Binotto rumours aren’t going away, now sounds like Ferrari are almost pressuring the guy into resigning instead of sacking him  I still don’t get why he’s facing the chop and why not some of the strategy department too, even with a fairly unreliable yet quick car, they should have been a lot closer over the season in my opinion, feels like the embarrassment for Ferrari was when Mercedes got a 1-2 in Brazil considering where both teams were at the start of the season.

Got to remember, the Ferrari didn't only fall back from Red Bull, it was getting beat my Merc regularly at the end of the season. They were fortunate not to fall back to 3rd in the Constructors with a car that should have won more than it did.

That's what Binotto is facing into, it's the negative trend.

I still think he's the right man for the job though, for one more season at least.

I think he needs one more year. They started well, but maybe they had to overspend up front because they came from pretty far back in terms of performance to the start of this season. They might have gone on a negative trend for the season, but it's a positive trend overall. Its their most competitive season since 2018.

Constant chop and change at the top is destabilising, and realistically if they replace Binotto now it's a concession that they don't expect to be in contention next season either.

I think it would be a mistake dropping binotto, yeah he’s made mistakes, but the key faults lie with the strategy which he doesn’t directly influence - at least let him start the season which he maybe doesn’t deserve but see how it goes

Also let’s not forget the amount of times leclerc has bottled it under pressure and spun out or crashed, that’s not on binotto

Christ it's like another reset for Ferrari. I'm pretty confident we won't see them in contention for another couple of years now (they weren't really in contention this year).

They got rid of Arrivabene after 2018 which was insane, then had to rebuild. Just as Binotto starts to get some progress, they hit the reset switch again. I think they'd do well having Todt take on the old Montezemelo role as CEO or whatever it was and create a new long term plan.

I’ve heard Brawn’s name being thrown into the ring as a replacement but surely he’d not be daft enough to tarnish his reputation there from his previous stint there.

Poor move from Ferrari unless they’re replacing a lot of the strategy team as well?

Oh apparently on hearing he's being linked to Ferrari, Brawn immediately retired from motorsport.

I hadn’t seen that  I really can’t blame him.

As much as people love to hate Horner I can fully understand why he didn’t want to go their either, with how quickly they’ve gone through team principals recently it’s just another aspect that doesn’t inspire stability in the rest of the team.

F1 floats plan to use "active aero" to slow down race leaders

F1’s active aero plans for 2026 could include ‘reverse DRS’
Formula 1’s active aero plans for 2026 could include the idea of handicapping the car performance of race leaders to help prevent runaway wins.

An interesting DUMB idea came out of Autosport's recent interview with outgoing F1 kingpin Ross Brawn

Speaking in an exclusive interview with this week’s Autosport magazine, Brawn said that F1 chiefs had begun thinking up how best active aero could be used.

“One of the big things about the 2026 car is whether we have active aerodynamics,” said Brawn. “I think that’s an efficiency step which is very appealing.

“It’s still got to be sorted to see how that can be done, and if it can be done safely and predictably. But, active aerodynamics, we semi have them at the moment with DRS, as DRS is active aerodynamics.

“But can you do something much more significant?

“If you have active aerodynamics, then of course you could affect the car in front. You could have a proximity [that] once you get within a certain degree, the car in front loses a little bit of downforce and you gain a little bit of downforce. There’s tricks you can play with that. It becomes an opportunity.

“I’m not saying we would do that, but it becomes an opportunity. So, the 2026 car is lessons learned from what we have now and I think we’ll incorporate some form of active aerodynamics.”
