He was extremely lucky to survive that only broke 2 knee caps and a thigh and was out of racing for over a year

Truly shocking, Johnny Herbert was following on track and when he came around Abbey corner, he found that there'd been a huge crash but had no idea where his team mate was. It wasn't until he stopped, got out and searched that he found Lamy in the tunnel.

God knows how he survived, truly horrific accident, and one caused by the team having to hack pieces out of the diffuser to meet the FIA's hastily introduced new regs following Imola (which put too much load on the rear wing and caused it to break off at high speed).

Just shows the death traps the early 1994 cars were with the drastic changes from 1993. JJ Lehto was out for the opening races due to a testing crash then there was Imola, then Monaco with Karl Wendlinger's career-ending crash then Spain when Andrea Montermini broke his heel and left leg. Could of easily been 4 deaths that year including Lamy and Wendlinger :dread:

Jean Alesi missed several races due to injury also, which was why Larini was driving the car at Imola.

Let's not forget that Lamy and Lehto could have also both been seriously injured in the start line crash at Imola.

Not to mention the huge accident in Brazil (caused largely by Eddie Irvine driving like a complete yob which earned him a lengthy ban) which could easily have killed Martin Brundle after a tyre struck his head.

Forgot about that Brazil crash with Brundle and Irvine :dread: & true the Imola start line crash could of been more serious

I mean it was effectively the death of F1 as a legitimate sport.

It is time to let it go now i think, it was a monumental cock up yes, but F1 has had many over the years so it's hardly anything new.

It was one of the lowest points in the sport's history and it's caused a major schism in how the sport is perceived since it happened. As the years go by, it will gradually diminish as a talking point naturally - but you can't dictate to fans how long they have to discuss moments of that magnitude.

It still only feels like yesterday tbh. I don't really understand the urgency in trying to get people to 'shut up' about it.

I disagree. It was a monumental strawberry float up and a real low for any sport. The criticism should be maintained for as long as possible so it doesn't happen again.

Didn’t Seidl work for Audi in the WEC? Could be hoping to front their F1 effort.

Hope it works out for Vasseur but wouldn’t be surprised if he’s given the boot in a couple of years.

When I saw Siedl was moving, I was assuming Capito was going to McLaren. Where has Stella worked previously?
