I'll call it now, Hamilton to retire or return to Mclaren, Max to Mercedes.

Absolutely crazy for Honda to quit just as it looks like they might get their turn at the top. What a complete waste of money. It turns Mclaren's decision on its head to ditch them for Renault and now Merc, what a smart decision now in hindsight!

Honda could be out of the sport for quite sometime now unless they U Turn. No big team is going to want to risk jumping in bed with them after what happened to the Honda F1 team and now this.

Maybe finally we can get Prodrive in F1.

Well I doubt Mercedes will supply them as surely with 4 teams their supply is nearly at capacity. Renault better of the two others currently.

I imagine Red Bull/Alpha Tauri will be pretty annoyed, finally getting there abouts with their power unit then they go and pull out, in fact Ferrari offered them a year old unit when they were last on the hunt for a power unit and their last one was so fast it was illegal!

Why would they be unwilling to supply them?

Is it a competitor thing or is it something more?

Well Red Bull were pretty scathing of Renault which led to their divorce. It would be a big ask for Renault to supply them again given just how critical Red Bull were.

However I believe there is some kind of agreement that the other manufacturers have to step in if one engine supplier pulls out. Renault will only supply one team in 2021 so with the prospect of supplying 2 more teams in 2022 at a good price, they will probably step up. I could see Red Bull selling up though.

Yeah Renault will have to supply them if they don’t find another supplier, Renault won’t be happy much like Red Bull won’t be considering how their previous power unit relationship was towards the end.

I do wonder why Honda have pulled out, I’ve seen various ideas on Twitter that it’s down to the lack of road car relevance the current cars are having as everything is going electric rather than hybrid in the near future. Or that Honda didn’t like the rough idea of the new regs due to be introduced in 2026. Personally I really hope F1 moves towards a much cheaper engine, even if it means that they’re not as road relevant as the current ones are.

If not Prodrive then how about Dacia?

They did ok being the reasonably priced car on Top Gear so they've shown they could run an F1 team if they could be bothered.

Same reason for anything in F1, £££.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

F1 with its current manufactures is a bad state really no engine diversity between the teams no cosworth in F1. No small teams with some random engine manufacture like Yamaha, Hart, Judd etc

If say Renault or Merc jump ship at the same time F1 is seriously strawberry floated

This is something which actually happened with the DTM series in 1996, that season there were just three manufacturers (Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, and Opel), then Alfa and Opel withdrew which killed the series stone dead until a revival came along around 2000/01.

The same thing has happened again with DTM. F1 has let manufactures take over 4 engine suppliers between the teams its a sorry state of affairs imo

Ultimately yes, plus their push for the electrification of a lot of their road car range probably means hybrid tech doesn’t fit into their short term plans.

Well at least weekends without F1 aren’t devoid of controversy, chaps got some proper anger issues by the looks of it. Got to be a lengthy ban for this kind of action, maybe even a lifetime ban (although Ticktum didn’t get a lifetime ban for his offence) and then other sentences dished out for the second video.

Saw that on Reddit earlier. Went on to YouTube to watch the entire race. You can't see the incident which pissed the guy off but the reaction is extraordinary. The guy should have a lifetime ban from Motorsport for sure, the above assault only confirms that.

The race itself is great. Karting is so fun to watch as it's such pure racing. It's only really how confusing it is with no production that lets it down.

No idea if it’s true or not but I’ve seen that it might have just been a seized engine rather than anything malicious, could just be loads of rubbish of course but if that’s true his actions are even worse.

Bloody hell he totally lost it.
Standing by the track like that and throwing something should be a ban for a few seasons at least and then attacking someone could very well end in assault charges and going to court.

His team need to sack him.
