They was talking about two DRS zones in the build-up. What's that all about?

Drag Reduction System, they're only allowed to use it in certain sections of the track. It's basically the "car goes faster button".

I still think they should be able to use that whener they like but it'd obviously be less safe due to less grip in the corners and drivers going for insane lunges at odd places.
Maybe they could have a set amount of usage time or something but where they like?

It used to be a free for all where it was used in qualifying, but it's quite dangerous to be dumping aero from the apex of corner and so on, so it was changed to the race set zones only. When it first came in to use in 2007, they were also able to adjust the front wing angle throughout the race, but that was quietly dropped the next year.

I guess the problem with that is the car in front would use it at the same time, which would negate the main point of it being to artificially allow overtakes more easily.

I wonder if they'll get rid of DRS after 2022 if the new regs produce closer racing between the cars? Since in theory slightly faster cars would be right on the exhaust of slower cars exiting corners and might be able to get past on the straight without assistance.

They're desperately trying to solve the dirty air problem with those regs, although I expect some teams will still find a way around it.

2011 was probably the peak for DRS in qualifying, recall Red Bull could take 130R pretty much flat with the DRS open.

Just finished Monza. Great race, and I think i'm hooked.

Unreal from Hamilton to finish where he did after that penalty.

Hamilton's overtaking credentials are something else. I remember him being on the radar from a gp2 race when he was high up the order, spun and ended up last, then stormed the field to finish 2nd.

Wait till you see him in a wet race :datass:

If you can find them online (dare say you can somewhere) some great wet/mixed conditions races to watch are Canada 2011, Brazil 2012 and then Germany 2019 was another pretty bonkers race!

Not sure really, you could always subscribe to F1 TV for a month (think it’s about £3?) and they have a lot of races in their archive section, whether the races I mentioned will be on there I don’t know for sure, I’d like to think so as they’d be much more easily obtainable than races from the 50’s for example.

Edit, found this list

https://www.reddit.com/r/F1TV/comments/ ... this_list/

Not been updated for the 2019 season but the German Grand Prix from that year was voted one of the best of the decade so imagine it’ll be on there as a full replay. Canada 2011 and Brazil 2012 are there looking at it unless they’ve been removed.

Yeah the impressive thing was that Bottas couldn't seem to make much progress but Hamilton just seems to have a unique ability to overtake.

He rarely messes up. He's had two clashes with Albon, but generally he is one of the best overtakers in the game. Verstappen is really good at overtaking now too. His first few seasons he used to race too hard in my opinion and caused a lot of crashes, but he has really calmed down now.

Joer, watch the British Grand Prix from this year too if you haven't seen it, that was mega exciting. Just don't confuse it with the Anniversary GP a week later as that was gooseberry fool!

I hope they put it on ITV1, can't imagine they have anything else worth watching on a Saturday afternoon.

Hopefully it leads to a revival. I remember going to Silverstone in 1995 and the BTCC was a real selling point at the time. Since they changed the rules in the early 2000s the series really shrank into obscurity.

The series was still pretty decent (and popular) around 2003-05, but after that it kinda just dropped off.

The biggest crowd i ever saw at a race day was the 1998 season finale at Silverstone when Rickard Rydell won the title and Nigel Mansell was competing.

The BTCC is one of those things that I always mean to watch but never get around too.

24 hours of Le Mans about to get underway, hopefully Toyota will have more of a fight after this year when the regulations change from next year.

Quest normally show some of the race like the start and then some night racing & the finish, yet this year they are not showing the start and the first hour live
