the likes of Minardi and the recent black Mclarens have soured that colour.

Last years Haas too.

That said though, the 1993 Sauber looked amazing and was also pretty quick.

The cars from the late 90’s to mid 2000’s look so much quicker than current cars and I’m not sure why? Is it a difference in camera angles used? That the cars are so much lighter they look a bit more alive? The sound definitely helps as well.

I always think the same when I see them. They dance around a lot more and just look so much more alive, so maybe that helps too. Watch one driving down a straight towards the camera and they're shifting all over the place with the drivers head bobbing about.

It’s amazing how much the 2017 car gained in the second half of the lap, still can’t be helped that the V10 Ferrari looked quicker, partly due to it looking harder to drive/keep in control. I think the cameras have dulled the sense of speed as well?

The cameras have took awayt the sense of speed. Onboards are too stable and the cameras nowadays are too wide too feature the track ads

It's definitely something where technology has take away some of the aura around the speed. When it was low res cameras, narrow scale, you got the impression that the cars were so fast that it was difficult to film them. Now with ultra HD wide cameras, that sense is lost a bit.

Has anyone seen anything about power unit usage? Currently we only have 8 races, so if the teams were still allowed to use 3 (personally I don’t see why not, they’ll be built and ready to go already, although if we only get 8 races I don’t expect to see many upgrades to them) then they’ll be able to use them in higher power modes more often which might lead to closer (hopefully better) racing.

I’m really getting excited for this weekend now

Now this is where it could get controversial. Do they do it for a national anthem? If so, which one will they single out?If Hamilton wins the race, would he take the knee on the podium? If so, would he do it for both the British and German national anthem? If he does it for just one, the controversy will detract from the message anyway. Also political protests are supposed to be banned on the podium.

I get the intention of it, but F1 is probably one of the whitest sports there is. They also are trailblazers in hosting races with severe human rights abuses. I don't think it's a good look for F1 to be appearing so two faced when it comes to equality and diversity. I'd prefer actual action and change over empty gestures.

Hmm, to be honest, i'd prefer F1 to not get involved in politics, especially as they've raced in countries who's records are far from squeaky clean.

Yep my money is on Verstappen. RBR seemed decent in testing and they always seem to up things for Austria.

Max always goes well in Austria, so we could well be right up there this weekend.

If not him though, then anyone but Mercedes (they've won more than enough these last few years, it's time for a change).

Was looking at the TV listings too, C4 have allocated plenty of time for their highlights show, so we should hopefully get a much better slice of the action.
