hypothetically speaking if there was to be a race at brands i could see hamilton winning by lapping the whole field 6 times if you could do a sub 1 minute lap time

They wouldn't allow a race at Brands nowadays, mainly due to the lack of runoff sadly.

Thruxton however has great runoff, no barriers at all in some parts which has meant that over the years, a number of touring cars have ended up in long grass or a ploughed field.

This could well lead to a seriously cool livery at some point.

I can't stand the way that this 'lights out!' saying has become a thing. It's so forced and naff.

LIGHTS OUT! HEY IT'S LIGHTS OUT AT 2!

Every time I hear it, the pitch and “excitement” of it remind me of Chandler trying to come up with a catchphrase for some roller-shoes in Friends... “KIDS... KIDS...!” :fp:

Just seen what Formula E are up too for their 6 races in Berlin too finish their championship

Image

Image

2 ROUNDS on each track configuration, with one or two days of rest between each Double Header!

EVENT CALENDAR
Race 1/2 - 5-6 th August

Race 3/4 - 8-9 th August

Race 5/6 - 12-13th August

We basically start next Wednesday, than stop the week after it's going to be one hell of a week for the drivers & the teams.
Massive pressure, stress & fatigue will raise as we go into the final days of racing.
Limited time for damage repairs also means that every mistake or crash could have massive consequences.

I find it odd that F1 are so insistent on travelling around the world still when they could do something like this. They are only incurring extra costs by travelling surely as they can’t be earning anything from the actual tracks.

Perez is isolating and awaiting results of a COVID test.

I imagine with the speeds seen in F1 some tracks wouldn't be able to be run the reverse way round, some would though, Silverstone looks like it could anyway? Credit to Silverstone (and whoever made the decision) to run different compounds of tyres at the second race (if they still are using different compounds of course!), would be good if we have to have a 3rd race round Silverstone that it is a different layout, or a reverse race.

Racing Point can’t exercise his exit clause if he’s not there, smart thinking from Perez :capnscotty:

Jokes aside, hope his test comes back negative and it was just a dodgy testing kit he had the first time.

Might have just been a dodgy test, hopefully he'll be good to go once he gets the new results.

Perez has tested positive and is out of the race this week. Must be very worrying, I guess the contact tracing will be going into overdrive, but given F1 tests at every event, hopefully he will be the only positive case.

Edit: Hopefully this will be a wakeup call as at the last two races, the drivers didn't seem to be religiously sticking to bubbles. Might be worth calling off any events that require them to be congregated together. GPDA and briefings can be done remotely.

Uh oh. I bet you their bubbles are largely a tv facing thing. A lot of the drivers shake hands and so on.

Dam, wishing Perez a speedy recovery from this.

I know it’s a small thing but the podium celebrations annoy me a little, wear masks the rest of the time but once they’re getting the trophy and champagne it switches to a free for all! Taking a swig out of the bottle before spraying someone else in the face with it just makes no sense to me.\

Edit, I wonder who they will get in? It’d be great to see Russell in a far more competitive car but then again that would put a downer on the rest of his season and next year so probably more likely to be Vandoorne or Gutierrez who are the Mercedes reserve drivers.

They don’t have one strictly, but Mercedes have a solution in place with Racing Point and McLaren whereby if needed either Vandoorne or Gutierrez can be called upon to fill a seat should one of the drivers not be fit to race.

It'll be a tough weekend for whoever they choose as neither will have had a chance to drive the car before.

I suspect Vandoorne out of the two, still feel slightly sorry for the guy after having two pretty poor McLarens to drive for his F1 career, I know pre F1 record never shows just how well you’ll do in F1 but his GP2 career was fantastic and he had a reasonable season in Super Formula as well.

if its to be Gutierrez it would be the second time he's had to fill in for Perez in a f1 session since he did so in 2012
