What would happen if someone like Hamilton got covid? I know we obviously had Hulkenberg in for Stroll today/this weekend so i'm sure i'll find out tomorrow, but if the back-up finishes in the points do those points go to the driver they're replacing towards the championship or is it just a case if you're sick you miss out?

Yeah the back up driver gets the points as they are new driver in the championship regardless of who they are replacing.

Definitely this, any points scored goes to the individual driver even if they are a substitute.

So yeah, if Lewis misses a race, it'll be 0 points for him even if his replacement were to win.

I think that is a lot of it (or I hope it is anyway, he’s certainly not more than half a second off the top drivers in the sport), he just doesn’t care enough to push for Ferrari this year which is sad to see.

Not really sure what F1 could do if most of a team came down with Covid, unless there is an understanding that if it did happen to any of the teams, then all the teams would have to isolate and this would mean no racing for the next couple of weeks?

They should have a rule that championship is decided on your best results in 80% of the season. They used to have a similar system a few decades ago.

It only needs to be in place this season to protect the viability of the championship. Say Bottas wins the championship because Hamilton gets Covid, it would completely destroy the credibility of the season and make Bottas's championship worthless.
