What would happen if someone like Hamilton got covid? I know we obviously had Hulkenberg in for Stroll today/this weekend so i'm sure i'll find out tomorrow, but if the back-up finishes in the points do those points go to the driver they're replacing towards the championship or is it just a case if you're sick you miss out?

Yeah the back up driver gets the points as they are new driver in the championship regardless of who they are replacing.

Definitely this, any points scored goes to the individual driver even if they are a substitute.

So yeah, if Lewis misses a race, it'll be 0 points for him even if his replacement were to win.

bit of a bizarre track layout the older version was better. Though it has some good moments banked curves with this layout

Not really sure what F1 could do if most of a team came down with Covid, unless there is an understanding that if it did happen to any of the teams, then all the teams would have to isolate and this would mean no racing for the next couple of weeks?

They should have a rule that championship is decided on your best results in 80% of the season. They used to have a similar system a few decades ago.

It only needs to be in place this season to protect the viability of the championship. Say Bottas wins the championship because Hamilton gets Covid, it would completely destroy the credibility of the season and make Bottas's championship worthless.

Hence why I’m making sure I take my short day at work today  should be home nicely for the last bit of the coverage before it gets underway.

How is bottas allowed to be in front as he gained the lead back by going completely off the track on the first corner?

Well the overtaking did happen on track, good to see Bottas being a bit feisty with the start though, top 3 leaving Leclerc and co in their wake.

At least Verstappen is keeping them in touch, be a bit of a grim afternoon for everyone if he wasn’t in the race.
