Absolutely phenomenal drive from Lewis. Every single time, cometh the hour, he just makes it look easy.

The GOAT, without question.

Brilliant from Perez, Sainz and the two Ferrari drivers today too. Really hope Ferrari give Sainz some good hardware next season.

I just don't see where he bows out, each year he keeps improving and today showed that the other drivers are still incredibly far away from him.

One of the greatest drives of all time from one of the greatest drivers of all time.

Just an incredible drive, he’s fully deserving of his 7 WDC.

Imrahil wrote:Immense from Lewis with their tyre temp problems in the wet, but it's at the point now where this almost goes without saying. Great for Vettel to get a podium - he kept it clean and tidy in the conditions and showed his experience. You could tell him and Hamilton just knew exactly what to do.

Verstappen was all over the place though - he's insanely quick but still needs to learn when to be calm in certain situations.

Verstappen did have a shocker by his standards as well, looked mighty all weekend and was looking good in the race till his spin then he kind of went nowhere, still might get a penalty for crossing the pit exit line too.

The fight for 3rd in the WCC is just getting better and better, Racing Point had a good chance to almost seal it today and due to Stroll having a poor race McLaren are still just a few points behind them. Ironic that Ferrari have had one of their strongest races the first time Binnotto hasn’t been at the track too

Think it's very harsh to say Stroll had a poor race.

Couldn't get a second set of Inters fired up which cost him a lot but when out in front he looked in control. Most drivers struggled when being switched over and he just didn't have the awareness or confidence to over rule the team and stay out when they called to box him.

Well he did have a race of 2 halves, was fantastic the first half but after his second stop he just slipped further and further backwards. It’s a learning experience for him though, first full race start on pole in tricky conditions so yeah maybe poor was a touch harsh in hindsight

Sky really do an excellent job of explaining things as a newcomer so you know what is going on but there’s odd bits that they don’t touch on still.

The standers are racists is the prevailing thought.

Not by anyone intelligent.

The most charitable thing you can say is they don't care enough to kneel. They're ordered to wear anti-racism T-shirts and be at that presentation.

It's not even like it's during a national anthem. It's a simple gesture to say racism is bad and they won't partake in it fully. They should be embarrassed.

If it really were as simple as you said then yeah, fair enough. I just don't think it is that simple, and nor do an awful lot of people.

Put another way, what does taking a knee add that wearing the t-shirt doesn't? If it's nothing, then what's the point? If it's something, then perhaps it isn't just a simple gesture.

Do you really think the people not taking a knee would wear those T-shirts if they weren't ordered to by the bosses? They're doing the absolute minimum they can get away with.

It's obviously hard to know, but I think the T-shirts are very close to the scenario you originally described. They don't carry any of the connotations that the knee does, so I do think most if not all would, yes.

I think the fact that this is the message/method that has been universally agreed by the drivers backs that up. I don't doubt some of them are less enthusiastic than others, but I don't know why you think anyone's ordering them to do anything. This came out of the GPDA, and that's where they all agreed on what they were collectively willing to do. I find the idea of drivers wearing end racism tshirts being closeted racists too cowardly to really act how they feel a bit farfetched, if I'm honest.

Great race, and i was really pleased to see Checo on the podium, i had hoped they'd be able to go all the way and win it, but alas, Lewis was just too strong in the end.

Lewis gave a really great interview to Sky during Ted's notebook. He came across as a different guy to the persona he seems to give off during a race weekend. Really reminded me of that young kid back in 2007 who was full of enthusiasm.

I see some right wingers on twitter are saying he shouldn't get his knighthood because he lives in Monaco. Sorry, but if you give out knighthoods for services to sports, Lewis has done more than any other British Sportsman in history. He is easily our greatest sportsman of all time, a knighthood would be well deserved, and overdue.

Surely Hamilton is about the most deserving sportsman of recent times to be Knighted?
He's been at the top of his sport for a decade and is considered one of the greatest of all time.
There are sportsman who haven't achieved a fraction of what he has who have been honoured in such a way so I fail to see any reason to grumble.

I have no issue with Lewis getting a knighthood, he's done more than enough to deserve one.

I will say though, when Schumacher won his 7th title, I felt like it was a once in a generation kind of thing and that I'd seen something historic that I might never see again. Bloody Lewis has cheapened that whole experience!

I actually think this time the record will probably be broken within the next 20 years again. F1 is a different sport now to how it was pre-2000. Manufacturers invest so much money, and the nature of the fixed rules means dominance tends to fixed for 5-10 years now. You could easily get Ferrari dominant again and Leclerc could be looking at multiple world titles.

Heck, Lewis could retire and Merc could draft in Vettel and he'd be equal by the end of 2023!

Often, the argument against his knighthood is about him not paying UK taxes - but he's actually one of the top 5000 British tax payers due to a large chunk of his income coming through the Mercedes HQ in Surrey.

That tends to kill any discussion dead when it comes to that avenue of criticism.

For me there’s no doubt that Hamilton is the best driver on the field by some distance. Over the years he’s just been the fastest. Over the last three races he has made calls that have been absolutely instrumental to getting the best positions to win the race. Portugal, the second run in qualifying, Imola & Turkey both staying out to maximise tyres. It’s been quite a ride with all the new tracks on the calendar and it says it all that Hamilton has dominated them all.

Hamilton should be knighted when he retires, he’s done more than enough to deserve one with his dedication to motorsport and this year with his dedication to Black Lives Matter but I’m just not a fan of sports people getting knighted while still competing anyway.

I want to see Hamilton knighted to further annoy sir Jackie Stewart.
