I don’t know, Hamilton didn’t exactly stick to Leclerc’s gearbox in the first stint, I thought he’d have been eager to pass due to his penalty. I think a pass had to come quickly though, with the tyres and hot temperatures today if you didn’t pass quickly a lot of drivers got stuck behind whoever. Even Perez didn’t have great pace.

They were earlier in the corner but at the crash they weren't, had they nee Hamilton's front wheel wouldn't have lined up with Max's back wheel

Helmut Marko has completely lost touch with reality.

Helmut Marko has claimed that Lewis Hamilton “destroyed Alex Albon’s career” at Red Bull after the pair collided in Austria last year.

Red Bull boss Dr Marko marked that as a particular moment where Albon’s decline within the team started, knocking his confidence and seemingly not being able to recover after that incident.

“Turn 4 is famous. That’s where I think Hamilton destroyed Albon’s career,” Marko claimed in an interview with Motorsport-Total.com.

FIA has condemned the racist abuse of Hamilton.

Mercedes, F1 and governing body the FIA condemned the abuse "in the strongest possible terms".

"These people have no place in our sport," read a joint statement.

"We urge that those responsible should be held accountable for their actions.

"Formula One, the FIA, the drivers and the teams are working to build a more diverse and inclusive sport, and such unacceptable instances of online abuse must be highlighted and eliminated."

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "We have seen it in the football in the European Championship and the abuse that is absolutely not acceptable, and the same yesterday, and I still question whether some just don't get it.

"This is not acceptable and we will react to it."

Seb has entered the 'Alonso at McLaren' phase of his career. Seems like a really cool guy. Its a shame we'll never see him compete properly again.

The fact he gets ignored while Max gets called 'one of the greats of the sport' pissed me off more than it should.

Seb is one of the most likeable drivers on the grid, and yeah, it's a shame he's no longer a front running driver.

His time at Ferrari just seemed to break him in the end, he seems happier at Aston though which is encouraging.

So after mulling the race over I feel like I've lost the grudging admiration i had building up for Max over the last couple of years. In hindsight it was still a racing incident and both drivers were at fault. But Max is known for this driving style of "get out of my way or we crash" and now Lewis finally gave it back to him things descend into chaos.

Horner and Max both threw gasoline on the fire that started in the euros with all the racist bullshit. They knew exactly what they were doing there. It feels like Verstappen never really gets penalised for anything, unless he crashes out like yesterday he gets waved through and given a free pass. Honestly I have a hard time enjoying some of his admittedly excellent performances when he does gooseberry fool like this. Posing and grinning I hospital with Jos while simultaneously enabling racists is strawberry floating disgusting. Good on Lewis for celebrating his win in that regard.

I’d question the enabling of racism claims. It’s more how inappropriate it is to use the concern of severe injury, in a sport in which that is a legitimate possibility, to try and score fan points against Mercedes when there was nothing overly aggressive about the move and it’s clear he was fine immediately.

I used to bash Seb but seeing him do that and how he has changed over the years and what he is doing with his farm. Respect too him for that Seb getting away from Red Bull & Horner etc and him now being in the midfield not having it easy like he did when he first got into F1 he has finally grown up and is likeable these days.
