The amount of hours he puts in is impressive to say the least.

Holy hell that's serious dedication! I wouldn't have that level of patience to do it! I got frustrated after 850 eggs trying to hatch a shiny. Never mind 42000+ resets!

Got my shiny female Salandit at last! I haven't turned my 3DS off for 6 weeks! Actually, it's probably longer than that. This particular encounter went on for 6 weeks.

So I've been doing dynamax Adventures for Guzzlord and Zygarde for a while, without seeing any shiny Pokemon come up at all... until this week, when I've got a shiny Luxray and a shiny Lycanroc out of them! Definitely two I'd have eventually done some sort of hunts for as I think they look great.

Image

Side note: Zygarde seems insanely difficult in Dynamax Adventures. So many times we've gone in with 4 lives left, all on full health, and 2 Pokemon with super effective attacks and he just wipes the floor with us after hitting his 100% form. I think this is the only way to get a non-event Shiny Zygarde too as it's shiny locked in XY, and SM+USUM. Every other one is pretty easy if you go in with 4 people so the AI doesn't get a chance to make dumb choices.

Edit: We got him!

Anyone interested may already be aware but, there's an event on at the moment that enables you to catch a shiny Eevee.

I did not know that! I'm awful at noticing these kinds of things. I have a couple of shiny Eevees from Let's Go, but you can never have too many with all those evolutions.

Also, looks like BDSP has a decent Shiny Method that involves chaining that at the best odds gives a 1/100 chance for a Shiny, but it's a method where there's a certain amount of RNG involved. You need to be post-game and have the dex-nav, and it's then just getting up to a chain of 40, BUT there is a 7% chance of each encounter breaking the chain no matter what you do, so potential frustration there. I've not looked into it a ton yet as I'm not even half way through BDSP.

I was thinking that I might try to catch one of these shiny Eevee, as then I'd mostly have a shiny team. I'd still be one short, but I'd have: shiny Gyarados (from the previous shiny Magikarp event), shiny Kommo-o (from a unexpectedly lucky egg hatch), shiny Celebi and shiny Zamazenta (recent event giveaways).

But then I kinda thought... they're all red. I can tolerate doubling up on types within a team, particularly if it's a common second typing like Flying, but I really don't like it when I have a team with multiple members who are all the same colour. For example, back in G/S/C, Jumpluff being blue and Octillery being red were genuine dilemmas for my original playthrough.

I do! Joined a Discord where people would group up to hunt. Pretty cool actually as if they found a good path, the host would make sure to quit out at the end so it could be repeated, even going as far to work out the most efficient path and even move rotation for everyone to follow. Of course most don’t need that level of planning, but some like Zygarde, Groudon and Kyogre have pretty devastating attacks that hit the whole party, and Zygarde also powers up once it goes below 50% health and they can be brutal fights.

I only found it a few weeks before BDSP released and now the dynamax adventure activity has gone right down on there, so would certainly be up for doing some raiding with the GRCade gang.

It unlocks pretty much immediately upon entering the Crown Tundra DLC

Nice - that's where I'll be heading first then.

Mori kindly traded me a Poliwhirl - I'm currently breeding it with a Ditto I caught in a den with good stats to try and hatch aPoliwag with better stats, then I'll breed that with a French ditto in the hope of hatching a shiny that I'll eventually evolve to a Politoed! Might get tired of the attempt long before it works though!

Robbo and I are if Animal Crossing is anything to go by basically twins so I'm hoping I can similarly mirror his luck...

If you’ve got the shiny charm, the odds of getting a shiny are 1 in 100 in the dynamax adventures! So I’d say catch everything (even if you’ve no plan to use it in the den) and see what you might get by the end of the run :)

Have you got the shiny charm? Just make sure you catch all of the den Pokémon if you’re only hunting Shiny Pokémon too, obviously more tedious if you’re specifically looking for a legendary as that could mean a lot of hours spent repeating one adventure over and over again.

I think the Dynamax Adventures Pokemon are 100% catch rate, so you can use regular Poke balls if you want. I've been going after a lot of white shinies so been using Premium Balls for a weird matching thing.

If you're short on cash, you can do tournaments at the stadium that should be fairly easy, and it's not too hard to get yourself a Gigantamax Meowth with the Gold Rush move. This is essentially a super-powered version of the Pay Day move which earns you quite a bit of extra coin if you win a battle where you used the move a few times. In the DLC, you can get Pay Day as a TM, and you can give any Gigantamax capable Pokemon some Max Soup. Give it the amulet coin too and you can make quite a bit out of just one run through the tournament. It helps to have some actual good Pokemon too to beat the opponents after using up your Gigantamax on Meowth, but it's not too difficult.

I'm OK for cash (in Pokemon Sword that is) but didn't know about the guaranteed Catch Rate, that's really helpful, thanks!

Anyone fancy doing some online group Dynamax Adventures at some point?

I finally caught a Shiny through Dynamax Adventures :toot:

Decided to do a run today after not playing the game for months, and in my first run, I got a shiny...

Swampert!

Pretty fun. Not necessarily my first choice :slol: but far from my worst choice! Will probably equip it with some better moves and use it for a while.

I’ve not done any raid dens in ages to look for shiny Pokémon. I’m still tempted to get a couple of Hoothoot or Noctowl and try my luck hatching eggs with the Masuda method.
