I caught a shiny Salandit using SOS in Ultra Moon... and it's a male! :fp:

Only female Salandit can evolve into Salazzle, and under normal circumstances only 12.5% of encounters are female, but I was using a male Syveon with cute charm which should mean the wild pokemon has a 66% chance of being female. I was actually seeing a lot more than every 2 out of 3 being female, but not the shiny! Oh well, will give it another go soon.

Ahh no that's sucks! Let's hope shiny luck is in your favour next time you hunt for it! :toot:

Shiny Male Salandit number 2 caught :fp:

I'd already messed up two chains, one by accidentally hitting run on the touch screen when putting the 3DS down, and another when my 3DS died in sleep mode. Ah well, that's what makes this one an interesting hunt!

Also did a Max Raid in Sword earlier... 4 of us using Charizards, 3 of them Shiny :slol:

Aww no unlucky! It will be really worth it when a female finally shines for you though! :D

Haha love it when that happens. I did one once where all 4 of us used shiny Rayquaza!

Shiny Chandelure is available in Max Raid Dens at the moment! :D

The Wild Area Event has now shifted in Pokémon Sword & Shield for a new Extra Event. With this, for the next few days, Ghost-type Pokémon will be available, with Shiny Chandelure. We're currently compiling all details of the event so be sure to keep checking back. This event runs until Sunday at 23:59 UTC

I got another unexpected shiny! I've been doing a bit of breeding to try and build a collection of Pokemon that will make max raids as easy as possible, and I did 30 Gastly eggs just aiming to get a 5 IV one, and one of them turned out to be shiny! I was initially underwhelmed as shiny Gengar is barely noticeable, but then I realised shiny Gigantamax Gengar is that awesome white one like the shiny Mega Gengar. Would be awesome if someone could do a back and forth trade with me so I can evolve it.

Still no shiny female Salandit, and no luck with Dynamax Adventures either. As usual I'm terrible at keeping count, but I've done a fair amount of them over the last few weeks, mainly going after Guzzlord and Yveltal, and not seen a shiny at all yet.

Congrats Grin! :toot: Random shines really are the best! And you're right, shiny Gmax Gengar is awesome! I'm happy to jump on in a bit to do the trade for you!

I haven't done much shiny hunting recently as I've focused on my Ghost only playthrough. I'm actually thinking about doing a Shiny Badge Quest on Let's Go Pikachu which would incorporate the two threads!

How would the Shiny Badge Quest run work? Got me interested!

So really weird timing, but I got a shiny Salazzle in a Suprise Trade, and while the fact it's been given away in a surprise trade would make me strongly suspected it's cloned at the very least, it looks pretty legit. It's not got the 6 perfect IVs, it's not level 100 and it's not holding some super rare item. I like to have all Pokemon being ones I caught, so will happily give it away to anyone here?

Ahh so the shiny badge quest (or SBQ for short) requires you to find and capture a shiny Pokemon before moving on to a gym. By the end of it you should have a team of 8 shiny Pokemon you can use. Some people will hunt for a 9th before going to the League but it's not a general requirement of the challenge.

I've known some people to do this on older games, before the odds were inhanced, their final save files to run into the thousands of hours!

The Let's Go games are perfect for a SBQ because even without the shiny charm, the 25+ catch chain still gives quite good shiny odds!

Oh wow that's really cool! Personally I'm the same too, I prefer having myself as the OT on my shiny 'mon, it's a very kind offer and I'm sure someone won't mind having it! I believe the biggest giveaway a Pokémon has been genned is to go to a Pokémon Center and speak to the guy who can check memories, if they don't have any memories then it's genned.

The only time I've ever caught a shiny Pokemon was a shiny Geodude in Pokemon Gold. I don't think I even knew about shiny Pokemon, so it was quite a fascinating surprise. I was playing on my old monochrome Gameboy, so couldn't tell that it was (presumably) a different colour. All I knew was that an unfamililar shiny effect happened when I encountered it. I caught it... and then went and turned the Gameboy off without saving. I still don't know why I did it. I just had a complete brain-fart and forgot to save, something I never ever do. I tried encountering it again but couldn't! This is my tale of woe.

Aww dude I feel you on that one! If it makes you feel any better, I encountered a shiny Rattata during a play through of Gold on the 3DS VC. It was right at the beginning of the game... BEFORE I had got to the point where I unlocked Pokeballs! :fp: to this day that moment haunts me!

Of all the hours I've put into Pokémon over the last 22 years, I've only ever come across three random encounter shinies, and only one of them was a full 1/8192 chance! The others were found in newer games, where the odds were slashed to 1/4092. Still, it's a hell of a great feeling when you find one though?

Bond with your own Dada Zarude, and Shiny Celebi before the new movie launches in the UK, by signing up for the Pokemon Trainer Club newsletter by 25th September to receive two unique codes, redeemable in Pokemon Sword or Shield.

I've never been into Shiny Hunting but I've got a friend who is very into it and has been collecting them for a good decade or so now.
The amount of hours he puts in is impressive to say the least.

Oh he caught it it's just shiny hunters always post the encounter I've noticed as the catch is assumed (likely they use teams made specifically for catching shiny's with attacks like false swipe etc).

But he posts a subsequent video of the Pokemon fleeing

If it flees it stays as a shiny. He was having to reset the first encounter with a roaming Pokémon until a shiny version finally appeared. I know he caught it because he posted the capture on YouTube.

42,000 resets. Damn. I know for a lot of Shiny Hunters, it's about more than just the easiest method, but did he try doing Dynamax Adventures for it it in Sword and Shield?

For me, I'll take a shiny the easiest method I can (aside from transferring from Go).
