Thommo's powerplays never seem to look good, but then you look at the stats and realise (sometimes) that it works

I was talking to a Steelers fan on the way home last night and they just want him gone, to the point where they'd be happy for the team to lose just to get rid.

2015–16 they won the league

2016-17 they won the playoffs

Last year they came third in the league and second in the playoffs

What a terrible coach

They're Steelers fans though and their sense of entitlement goes off the scale.

You're damn right, we're the biggest and bestest team in the league and we win all the trophies.

Am notionally a San Jose Sharks fan and went a few times when I lived nearby but couldn't name a single player.

Went to Madison Square Garden a for a rangers game last year and that was really fun. No skin in the game in the UK league because like every other non football sport, Norwich doesn't have a team.

Couple of things.

1. What the absolute strawberry float is this?

Are they purposely trying to scare the kids?

2. Off to the Panthers vs Devils game tonight, hoping for a serious improvement over the weekend's loss to Braehead Glasgow. The game is on Freeview on Freesports tonight if anyone is interested.

Simmsey must be distraught. Shame though, he was doing such a good job with them.

Raising this thread from the very depths (mostly due to my own laziness). Just spunked a rather large amount of money on a ticket to the see the Flyers play the Blackhawks in Prague in October. Figured it was considerably cheaper than going to Philly.

In other news, the Elite League is racing along to quite an exciting finish. Cardiff have been tracked all the way by Belfast but with Belfast playing their game in hand tonight and being 4 points behind (2 for a win) then a defeat could all but hand Cardiff the title. Playoffs are almost all sorted with only place left available being contested between Coventry, Manchester and Dundee. The Blaze have a game in hand and a point on the others so I'd make them favourites but Dundee beat Cardiff on Sunday so may spring a surprise. Otherwise, the only thing to decide is positions 3,4,5,6 and 7. Panthers looks decent shout for third (which is astonishing as we have been utter shite this season for large periods) and Sheffield may only make 7th even with a strong end to the season (which will give them either Cardiff or more likely Belfast).

Anyone off to playoff weekend?

All season we seem to have been saying "we've got x games in hand, we should be fine!". Honestly if we get into the playoffs then we have a chance, with the exception of Cardiff/Belfast the teams are all very close and anything can happen.

And yes I'm going for the weekend with family :toot:

Are you watching the game tonight? Think it's on Freesports (which I can't get and they removed it from the Web based TV player :( ).

I'm going to Saturday on the playoffs with my 9 year old daughter and will then try and pick up a Sunday ticket from the mardy Steelers when they've not qualified if by some bizarre occurrence we make the final. I'm not expected us to be there though as we're down to about 3 D-men and will probably face Guildford in the qtrs and they've had our number recently.

It's a running joke on our side that Panthers fans only buy tickets the day before if they're going to be in the final... so thanks for contributing ;)

I've not been keeping up with the freesports game, I watched the first Blaze game they showed but that's it. As I don't live in Coventry anymore I've only been to like 3 games this season so I've not been following things particularly well!

To be fair to me, when I bought my tickets we were going through a stinking run and I wasn't expecting us to even make the weekend. The injuries and (almost certainly long) suspension for Rissling that we picked up last weekend means we're going to be seriously short handed on defence and we've only got one forward who can play that position with any kind of ability. As long as we don't get Sheffield in the quarters as we've been utter gooseberry fool against them for most of this season then I can handle whatever happens to us.

We're going to the Playoffs!!!! Really good performance yesterday against Fife though I was getting a bit nervous as we were only up by 1 for most of the 3rd period. Couple of empty netters and it was all good though. We've now got Devils in the semis and they're pretty much the only good side we've done well against this year so I'm hoping we can put in a performance. No Steelers too which is nice.

It's all on Belfast at the moment though, they're in ridiculous form now so I expect them to beat Guildford. Well played to the Flames though, only 2 seasons into their EIHL existence and they're Challenge Cup finalists and off to the Playoff weekend.

I don't know much about ice hockey but i've recently started going to see Guildford Flames as they are my local team. Been twice so far and it was great both times even though we lost. Seats are fairly cheap too!

I like watching the Flames, they're a fairly small team but fast on the break. Glad to have avoided them in the playoffs as they've had our number in recent games.

I'll be supporting Guildford in the finals, that's for sure.

If not them, then probably the Giants. They might have knocked us out, but if they go on to win then technically we can claim to be second best...

Already beat Cardiff to stop them getting the title anyway B)

The only team I don't want to win it is Guildford and that's purely because if either Cardiff or Belfast win then Panthers get qualification to the Continental Cup next season. Feel slightly conflicted because they're the team I like the most out of the other 3.
