Nah, 4. Don't think there's one out yet for the 4S.

Just tried setting up a repair via Apple online for my 3GS those strawberry floaters want nearly £140! I was only going to repair it to give it to a friend.

If I ring them is there a chance they'll fix it for free?! It is like 18 months old, apparently 3 mobile can't repair them as Apple won't let them.

Meh, I'm institutionalised now.

You should be for buying an iPhone!

Why do you bother coming in here if the iPhones are so awful?

Calm down kid, was it not obvious enough from the emoticon that I was being lighthearted? Anyway, I come in here because I have an iPod touch. :)

I'm constantly amazed at how gooseberry fool the 4S battery life is.

-Un-plug from mains at 100%
-Listened to music for 20 mins on way to work
-10 minutes browsing and twitter
-86%

:?

This at less than a quarter brightness, with wi-fi off and location services on.

1d 1h 0m 47s with 49% discharge on my Galaxy Nexus so far 8-)

Wi-Fi on, bit of Twitter, Facebook, web browsing and photo uploading.

My 4S battery only drops like 5% from that usage, wi-fi & location services enabled at two-thirds brightness. It really does sound like your battery is just strawberry floated.

I not saying you're talking gooseberry fool or exaggerating or nothing, I'm not saying that, but I find that very hard to believe seeing as my housemate's 4S' battery is equally as bad. AND it's his second one.

Finally finished transferring enough music on my iPhone 4 to keep me busy for a few weeks, had to delete some of my original apps (did a complete restore from a back up on iTunes) But because my 3GS was 32gb, I had to compromise! Music comes first!

And double win, I found the remote to my JBL speaker dock thing! Awesome sauce!

maybe I just have an amazing battery then :3

I took my 4S off charge this morning at around 7.00am. Used it for a few texts (a couple via siri), a few mins web browsings, checked emails and made three short phone calls and one longer call (approx 15 mins) and right now my battery is at 51%. That's with brightness at about 75%, location services and 3G turned on all day and no wifi.

I'm running iOS 5.1 beta 2 at the moment so not sure if that's helped but my battery seemed to improve massively after the last iOS 5.0.1 update, before that it dropped stupidly quickly.

My contract expires at the end of the month and after hearing all these problems with the 4s battery I'm thinking about just getting the 4 instead. Stupid idea?

They're both good. I upgraded from a 4 to a 4s as I wanted Siri and the larger storage but if you're not fussed about Siri or the larger 64gb then you might as well save money and get the 4.

The 4s is noticeably faster in general with apps etc.. But the 4 is fast enough and I don't thing there's many apps if any that only run on the 4S. The camera is a lot better too on the 4S so if the quality of your photos matters then the 4S is worth considering.

My battery was shocking but seems fine now, easily lasts me a full day of normal use but some people do seem to still have issues. The last firmware seemed to sort mine out and the beta of the next may have helped further, at the very least, its not made it any worse so hopefully it'll sort it for anyone still having problems after the last update.

So yeah, the 4S is better but depends how bothered you are for Siri, extra speed, camera and the option of larger capacity. If none of those bother you too much then save money and grab a 4. Just make sure you get a case with it to avoid the phone signal death grip problem :)

Some of those have to be fake. The mistakes in a lot of them don't even sound plausible :fp:

I was going to do that, then I remembered Google Music. I wish Apple did a month's free trial for it or something so I could see how well it actually works.

iTunes Match is fantastic. Takes about two hours in total for me to get up and running. If you have an unlimited data allowance it's brilliant on the go, but I guess you'd need to be aware of what you're downloading/streaming.
The only thing which I weird is that once you turn iTunes match on your iPhone, it won't allow you to manually add music from iTunes onto the iPhone by connecting to USB. You're forced to do it by downloading, which isn't a huge issue as I'd be on wifi anyway. I find if I have new music I create a new playlist which pushes to my iPhone/iPad and I just hit download all. Works seemlessly.

So basically all syncing becomes done through the cloud - is music storage on the iphone then repealed in favour of streaming? Or does match actually download to the phone, ergo the music storage becomes independent of my laptop?

If you click a song to play it'll stream until it's downloaded. If you click download, it saves it to local storage.

In iTunes. [/CaptainObvious]

No seriously, it's below the iTunes Store link in iTunes if you're up to date. Costs £22 per year and it's effectively amnesty for pirates, since it lets you convert your yarrr'd MP3s into iTunes Store downloads.
