Seems bit off there as I would thought Apple would have allowed you to set up the itunes during the install process or let you know that it could be customed rather than hiding it away.

It's all about accessability.

iTunes is crap for two reasons, which you can't really argue against...

1) QuickTime
2) Tags/Metadata

As has been said so many times, to use iTunes effectively you need to accept the way it manages your music, instead of trying to force your own system into it. If you prefer to manage your music manually, don't use iTunes. Duh.

If you think it's gooseberry fool, it's because you're using it wrong - or chances are you're on a Windows computer, in which case your criticism is probably totally justified!

But why should we have to do that? Look at free, 3rd party apps like Winamp and the like...they work however you want them to!

You'll have to rename it outside of iTunes. What's the filename/extension at the moment?

Because that's how iTunes works.

This is cyclical. You seem fine with a product forcing you to alter your methods when other programmes don't, and I'm not. Bosh.

Hmmm...

I don't actually have iTunes on this computer to have a go myself, but try again from the start following this tutorial and see if you have any more luck: http://mp3.about.com/od/tutorials/ht/iTunes_freetones.htm

It's because Apple products are designed to be used by the technically stupid. They're all very restrictive so that you don't accidently break something.

MGS codec ringtone. I've checked if it uploads fine via itunes into my 4s. It's there.

Sorry I cant check if it is the actual codec sound or the quality.

This would save a bit of hassle. I did it all for you.

What is in the update?

This it seems

Apple has just released iOS 5.0.1 to the public, bringing fixes for battery life issues introduced with iOS 5. The release also brings several other enhancements including multitasking gestures for the original iPad.
This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

- Fixes bugs affecting battery life
- Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
- Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
- Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation

Bug fixes and battery performance stuff. It's a delta update so only takes five minutes to download and install from your iPhone.

Edit: Oh, and multitouch gesture stuff for iPad 1.

New iPhone 4s!

...Was what I was thinking about two hours ago.

Now, I'm simply hoping that Steve Jobs is rotting in hell like the stinking pile of gooseberry fool that every piece of software he's ever been responsible for is.

Someone has said they might be able to get me an iPhone 4 for £250. At that price, I'll bite.

Look, can someone help me with this because it's doing my strawberry floating head in.

I have to update iTunes to 10.5 to be able to sync the 4S, but I get this error message any time I do anything. Update, reinstall, uninstall, delete, absolutely everything leads to that message followed by 'Older iTunes Cannot be removed, contact technical manager'.

:x

If you're on Windows 7, try...

Clicking 'Start' then search for 'UAC', then CHANGE USER ACCOUNT CONTROL SETTINGS should pop up. Go into that and make sure the slider is down to the bottom (Never Notify)

Then try removing iTunes through Add/Remove programs
