Corbyn ran with the message "the EU isn't ideal, it needs change, but we're better placed to make those changed from within than without", which was the view of the majority of the electorate. Now that we're looking at the realistic possibility of a GE, why Labour see Corbyn as a liability and not an asset baffles me. To do a Lib Dem and say you'll run on a Remain platform is utterly ridiculous - democracy does not mean re-running the election until you get the result you want and for the Lib Dems to say they'll try and keep the UK in the EU means they're standing on a platform of intentionally misrepresenting 52% of the electorate. Madness. I hate IDS but he's right in a way - the next PM should be someone who understands the argument for Leaving. Corbyn is the the best Labour option.

Was there a different Corbyn in the campaign? Because Jeremy sure as hell didn't run with a "the EU isn't ideal, it needs change, but we're better placed to make those changed from within than without" message. He was leave through and through, always was always will be.

I think that's what lost my trust in him. He clearly didn't want to remain, and looked so half hearted and enthusiastic that it was ridiculous. He went into full politician mode. I know I was in the Leave camp, but his dishonestly over this issue must surely grate with remain voters who supported him.

You can just imagine him sitting there twiddling his thumbs and then after a couple of minutes going "Soooo....anyone watch the football last night?" but everyone ignoring him, so he just goes back to twiddling his thumbs.

Regarding that picture above

Jeremy Corbyn invited cameras in to his first meeting with his new shadow cabinet this morning but appeared to be having second thoughts about it – and the seating arrangements.

Calling over two of his aides, the Sky News microphone picked up Corbyn saying “this isn’t a good idea” as he sat between Tom Watson, his deputy leader tipped by many to be pondering a leadership challenge, and Cat Smith, a new shadow cabinet minister and Corbyn loyalist who was elected just over a year ago.

The cameras were asked to leave, and on their return there was quite a different seating plan in place. Watson and Smith were gone, replaced by Emily Thornberry and Corbyn’s PPS Steve Rotheram. The deputy leader had shifted out of sight.
