If you dob Phineas in to Uldum, is that a point of no return or can you play both sides for a bit? Woried I'm missing out on story potential

You can sort of play both sides, you won't get locked out either way until later on when you make a big definitive choice.

All I’ve seen about the Switch version release date is that it’ll be available before the end of the current financial year, so end of March at the latest.

Cheers - seemed odd if it offered a "define your playthrough" option so early, but Obsidian have done similar before

It makes a second playthrough more interesting because it can diverge early on, which is nice

Not sure I can see myself playing it through again. It's just not got a strong main hook.

I actually really miss VATS and seeing your character regularly. I only noticed when I equipped a top hat and never get to see it.

If you stand still for about a minute you get a 3rd person camera spin around your character which is nice to look at, but yeah it's a bit annoying that there is no way to see yourself in general play.

I tend to prefer 1st person but I can understand why others like the option for a 3rd person view in these games, doesn't feel like it would have been too difficult for them to include it.

I don't mind playing first person.

I just liked VATS when it showed me being badass (pistol, headshot, crit build) helped me connect to character a bit

Yeah the cinematics of VATS aren't replicated, which is a shame.

I've always played Fallout in third person, I find it much more immersive, but it wasn't a huge problem for me in general. Not seeing outfits was actually good in that I could wear actually decent armour and not feel bad because the best looking stuff is all terrible.

Actually the top hat is pimping. So many stats (that get modified by the perk) so you get more stats to spend.

Is there a decent long range science weapon? All the ones I've found so far have such little range :(

There are 3 guns and 2 melee weapons. The one I actually liked using was the mind control ray which you can find on Monarch. It's not a sniper or anything but the range is decent enough I'd say, but maybe you have it already and don't agree

I've got shrink ray, mind control ray, goo gun and prismatic hammer.

The MCR has better range that the Shrink Ray. But still feels like I've got to get too close compared to Pistols/Rifles)

I didn't properly investigate the science weapons on my first go through this which was a shame as they can be a lot of fun! That the game doesn't provide a massive challenge is one of the biggest flaws I think - there was never really a time where I had to mix up my approach or tactics so I tended to just stick with the same small set of equipment throughout.

I used the Mind Control Ray on pretty much all of the "bosses" from that point on. It's fun to have enemies attack each other

The final boss especially is pretty funny to just hold mind-locked while companions beat it down unimpeded

There are bosses?

At the moment my strategy is to TTD, head shot everyone with a rifle at range, pick off straggles with a long range pistol and then stroll on through looting.

That was basically my strategy all the way through. The perks that extend your TTD when you get critical hits etc. made it a really fun but also really easy way to win most fights for the latter half of the game!

In Fallout I'll usually go long range, but the companions constantly aggroing and running into battle in this made me favour charging in myself with a shotgun. The shotguns are also savage which helps!

There are definitely encounters that are like bosses, like at the end of Nyoka's quest

Could never get into Fallout 4, but I'm absolutely adore this game, so fantastically written and the shooting is great too, plus no gltiches. Only negative I have is the long load times.

Pottering around Byzantium looking into Retirement Options and it's still good fun, but it's just missing something to hook me totally and bring everything together.

I'm also getting pretty close to max level it seems...hope that means I'm not too close to the end as that's quite short for this type of game

I got the feeling of something missing most when in Byzantium, it definitely feels the least developed of the areas. The side quests are very variable there too - some of my favourites in the game, but also some of the worst.

It is a relatively short game I am afraid, I'm hopeful the upcoming DLC is substantial considering the game's success.
