Nice, hopefully they've been able to put together something substantial!

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon (Private Division – Obsidian Entertainment – September 9, 2020). The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon adds a substantial amount of content to The Outer Worlds‘ darkly humorous universe. Play a brand-new noir-tinged adventure that takes players to the Gorgon Asteroid to investigate the mysterious origin of Adrena-Time. While there, you’ll find new weapons and armor, perks, flaws, along with the same freedom to solve problems that made the original game so rewarding. And those who played The Outer Worlds with Xbox Game Pass, you’ll be able to grab this and future adventures, or the expansion pass packaging both adventures for an extra 10% off.

Should be good - I'm surprised it isn't set on one of the existing but unused planets already on the game map though!

I played the game on Gamepass but I'll definitely jump in to buy the expansions.

Ah, one probable reason why the Switch version was so rushed. I theorised as much.

Didn't it get outsourced to a different team?

I'm not sure many Switch games have been ported by their original developer to be fair. Being a "porting studio" is a legitimate thing these days

Join Game Director Carrie Patel as she plays through a new mission from The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon, the first narrative expansion to the critically-acclaimed and award-winning sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division coming September 9th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

A severed arm and a mysterious message lead the crew of the Unreliable to the Gorgon Asteroid, formerly the site of one of Halcyon’s most ambitious and disastrous scientific undertakings, now a lawless den of monsters and marauders. Wealthy recluse Minnie Ambrose tasks the crew with finding answers about Dr. Olivia Ambrose, her mother and the doomed project’s disgraced director, but they are soon ensnared in an intrigue that will change the colony forever.

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon is the first of two narrative expansions that can be purchased individually or bundled at a discount in The Outer Worlds Expansion Pass.

A copy of The Outer Worlds on the same platform is required to play expansion(s).

I got this on Switch after the patch and Curry's price drop. First things first, it looks much worse than I expected on the Switch, but it is playable! I chose the switch version through lifestyle choice, I have it on gamepass but don't want to be tied to my lounge.

Anyway, bloody love the cast, the world, the storylines. It's a bit crazy, but it's good crazy. Just couldn't stop playing it last night. My character is a bit of a wise cracking hard ass with a soft centre. I can never play these games as a full evil character, but I think this is the closest they've come yet to making that seem appealing.

Really loving it, much more than Fallout as I found the world in Fallout was just too bleak and also had some stupid areas where you had to go miles out of your way to get by rubble etc.

The only thing I can really complain about is that something like Fallen Order made the world's feel a bit more connected with how the ship took off and landed etc. But that's such a minor gripe.

And that's the main quest done. Blimey, that was short. The final quest was actually a bit crap and had a pretty naff final boss, and I was expecting a twist that just never happened. But otherwise totally loved it even if the Fallout/Elder Scrolls style of gameplay really creaks these days. Also didn't like the endgame, it all felt a bit clumsy. Probably more so as I didn't realise the DLC isn't out on Switch yet!

Generally though I absolutely loved it. Obsidian know how to craft a universe.

Glad you enjoyed it! Seems like you got through it very quickly, did you spend much time doing side quests? If you haven't at least done Parvati's companion quest you should do that. I also really liked resolving the situation on Monarch between the factions, which depending on what you do in the main quest you can short circuit and avoid entirely. In fact I think it's possible to avoid some of the minor planet locations entirely if you skip through certain parts of the story!

There is a twist in the story - that everyone is dying from the lack of nutrition in the food.

Oh yeah I suppose that was a twist, but it kind of had less of an effect on me as they all led such miserable lives anyway!

I guess I was a bit caught by surprise and focused on the main quest as I thought it was going to be much longer than it was. Like in Fallout 3, you find Liam Neeson and then it carries on even further. However to be fair, it did clearly tell me I was starting the final mission, I just assumed I'd be able to carry on after. I had the same thing with Mario Odyssey where I stupidly rushed to the finish and can only blame myself.

Definitely going back to do the rest of the side missions. Parvarti was my favourite character and I loved the way her story developed but I need to resolve it as I still haven't taken her for a drink on Groundbreaker so she can talk about the engineer lady.

Also loved Ellie's story. I went in actually wanting to impress her parents, but admit I reverted to an earlier save once I saw where the conversation was going and I acted a total jerk to them!

It might look like I rushed it, but I've been very, very busy "working from home" :shifty:

I really liked the twist and some of the story elements that went somewhat under the radar (like the fact that something has clearly happened with Earth as they've lost contact and the military they sent to investigate have gone AWOL)

There was a lot of setup for a bigger world and story that I'm really hoping gets paid off in a sequel
