Good question. I think it's consoles. Unless you want to send emails, word process or be creative, in which case that'd be the iPad.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

The thread is about which is better for gaming. You can send emails, word process and be creative on consoles too.

~CONTENT~

Consoles:

Exclusives
Large population of casual gamers
Yer mates play 'em for the fifas
Gotta have a couch (SORRY SCOTLAND!)
Gotta have a HD TV to enjoy it on (DITTO!)
Gotta have a table to put yer telly and controlers on (YAS WE GOT ONE LADS)
Local Co-op (So yer mum and her pals can get pished on bacardi breezers and throw wii-motes through yer pane glass windaes)
Gimmicks! Magic shining wands and moving webcams ahoy!

PCs:

Developers patch the games they released broken
The Internet doesn't suddenly go down because The Internet Inc. thinks that someone has had their credit card details stolen
Mods. Mods? MODS?! - Users can and will break the game to make fantastic, and sometimes highly disgusting, modifications for games
Fantastic digital distrubution services like Steam - GET YER RAILWORKS DLC HERE LADS
The whole history of gaming available to you at your fingertips - Emulators for that terrible Tomy Speak and Spell you were so fond of!
Can be upgraded indefinately - Instead of that box of shiny-shiny you bought for a horse and half a breeze block, that 6 years after you bought it is now obsolete, PCs can be upgraded to meet the requirements of their users - not the parts manufacturers.

WHO IS THE BEST?

YOU WILL NEVER DECIDE.

The whole trolling of the locked thread started with Rik, yet he throws his toys out of the pram and screams I LEEVING FOREVER U GUYS GUNNA MISS ME I NOT COMING BACK TIL SILVA GETS BAND HE DUN LIKE RETARDS YOU MISS ME YET, silva gets banned and Riks leaving forever lasts a day. This place is a joke tbh.

I never said that at all, I said I wasn't posting until something was done about his "handicapped" comments, lots of people agreed as my phone was full of messages from my Twitter account till well past 1am.

I've already been told by the mods that my original comment was not seen as trolling, there is a common conception that because of finances that base games have to be made to run on six year old consoles and that for truly next gen games to be made new consoles were needed and that would also help PC games move forward.

Why people are offended by that viewpoint I simply have no idea.

As it is I've banned myself from the PC gaming thread, even though I do game on my PC as I'm sick of the personal abuse I get for simply having a different opinion to the clique in there.

You're just going round and round in circles, and generally being a prick to anyone who disagrees with you.

The boss of Crysis developer Crytek has claimed its work is being ‘limited’ by the PS3 and 360 dominating the video game market. He also claims PC gaming is being “held back” by current consoles. He goes on to say developers’ ability to express themselves creatively is being “limited” by Sony and Microsoft’s game boxes dominating the market. Finally, he claims developers don’t see PC versions of titles as a “big issue.” “Until the PC market creates comparable revenues, companies are not going to spend enough on the PC SKU of a game.”

You were trolled by Crytek

That's me done for this thread, enjoy!

How the f*ck did you work out that asking 'which is better' is 'being a prick'? That's some crazy extrapolation, right there. If anyone's 'being a prick' here, I think we both know it's not me.

Maybe I'm missing something here Rik.

1. I wasn't talking about Crysis.
2. What the strawberry float does this mean:

He did a gooseberry fool and run, he's not coming back. To this thread anyway, he unfortunately came back to the forum.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I could be wrong, but wasn't the appeal of consoles just plug in and play? The old computers needed an IT guy just to start up a program! The consoles were fool proof. And I think that is still what makes consoles appealing. Yes, PC's have became easier and consoles have became harder but I think it still boils down to people just wanting to easily play a strawberry floating game! And it is easier and less stressful on a console.

The second factor is buying a console is a lot cheaper. Setting up a top notch PC and playing a game will be so so much better then on a console. However it is hard to do and bloody expensive!

However you get arguing about it, because you have fanboys who are very loyal to a certain company. Like me, Sony ftw 8-)

But the games you buy for it will be a lot more expensive than the equivalent PC title - as far as new releases are concerned. Think of it as a 'console tax' on your gaming.

He didn't though. All he said was that consoles are more influential in the games industry than PCs are. It's a commercial issue not a technical one.

That certainly doesn't sound too controversial to me, whether it's factually correct or not I don't really care TBH and I certainly don't understand why it caused so much distress.

The difference between Rik and Silva is quite obvious. Silva might well be a decent bloke in the real world (we only have anecdotal evidence for this), but he's often an obnoxious poster on this forum whom I frequently find offensive. I don't recall Rik ever insulting anything other than hardware and he's entitled to his opinions in that regard.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.
