Took my cat String to the vet for her 6 monthly nurse check-up.

After a nose to tail checkup the nurse found that she had dental resorptive lesions in a couple of teeth. She'll need an operation to investigate and potentially have some teeth extracted. :(

It's not the pointy front ones and it's at a very early stage, so hopefully we've spared her any painful tooth problems.

After a moment of "How much??!! I'd better sit down!", it turns out that our pet insurance does cover it, so we'll only pay the £60 excess, thank goodness.

It's worth checking your cover if you have it, as many policies only cover dental injuries rather than general aging issues/wear.

I felt terrible but apparently there's nothing I could have done about it.

I think it's ages since I posted a pic of String so here's one called 'Catnip'

I'm going to let the kittens into the garden in the next week or so, but a little bit at a time ideally. Anyone got any good tips for this?

EDIT - actually, looking online lots of sites suggest waiting until they are 5/6 months old before letting them in the garden. They're about 4 months now so will hold off for a bit.

Yeah when my step sister had a kitten she wasn't allowed out for a couple of months so that they establish where home is, reduce risk and essentially get their bearings or not just strawberry float off and settle somewhere else or go ferral.

Sweet! I'm considering getting a Guinea Pig for my son. Did you already have the hutch and that?

Wife found it cheap on Facebook marketplace, there seems to be a good few available so don't have to go new, not that they are "that" expensive.

Just heard some really loud banging sound coming from downstairs, crept down and it was the dog fast asleep wagging his tail so hard that it was smacking on the wooded floor

Percy is all back to normal after breaking his leg in May :D

Today we took him for a walk and I accidentally pee'd on him :fp: :shifty:

Halfway through the walk Percy was off lead and my fiancée was there to 'control' him while I went into the woods to have a piss. Percy followed and went into Zoomie mode running in circles at full speed behind me. Then on one of his laps he suddenly ran in front of me mid-stream and got a wet streak from head to tail.

This was him afterwards with his wet face:

All that time spent marking his territory, bet he never thought he could be marked as yours. Smart. Keep him guessing.

My brother once pissed on the cat when it decided to have a look down the toilet mid-stream.

A quick to GRcade moment. My wife and I have always wanted a puppy. We've got a 7 year old son now and on our second kitten (first one died of old age last year). So we've done a ton of research, didn't want to be one of those lockdown puppy parents that rushed into things. We've had our work patterns confirmed and neither of us will be expected back in the office for more than 2 days a week, and not on the same days.

So we went for a Cavapoo. Best fit for us as good with cats, hypoallergenic as much as a pup can be. And also won't grow too strong for my wife who can't have a large breed as she can only use one arm (disability but that's not the point of the story).

Anyway, we were due to pick up our pup tomorrow, but the breeder had a doctors appointment and asked if we could pick up our new pup tonight. We bit her hand off (pardon the pun).

So we've now got our kitty Luna crying to go back outside as usual (we keep her in at night because of foxes) and our new boy Dexter is soundly asleep in his crate with his snuggle buddy!

I'd share pics but I'm 36 and don't know how!

Thank you!

I had a lovely nature moment just now. My wife is fast asleep on the sofa, son is asleep in bed, Dexter pup asleep in his crate, and our kitty came in and just sat by his crate. I think she wants to mother him!

Going to keep with the baby steps of introduction. I'm new to being a puppy parent but I couldn't have wished for a better first night! Trained our son to pick up dog poo (at his request I might add) so I think I have the perfect set up!

*frantically touching wood here as I made a deal with the missus that I'll do Dog and cat poo duty, she just has to do Tortoise duty on our little Horsfield tortoise. Come to think of it, I think I got the raw deal here as she is the one who wanted a pup and a cat!
