That's why I stopped keeping fish as a kid, had a tank of around 8 fish and after introducing a new one (a weather loach named slithering sid) all the others died over the next few weeks.

The loach (which I passed on to my sister) lived a further 15 years, surviving several suicidal leaps out of the tank, a couple of which involved the cat attempting to eat it.

So we have been looking after a friend's mum's cats since january as said mum has had surgery and is effectively blind. Today one of them hadn't come back in for a while, and when we called out the back door heard an unnerving and sad howl in response from nearby

After some traipsing through the woods behind the house we find said cat behind the neighbour's garden looking very sorry for herself and not moving much, but she crawled into a cat box and was rushed to the vet; she's in there now and is apparently quite cold but no obvious injuries so far so is staying in overnight to be given liquids and warmed up first of all.

Of course it's out of hours so will be expensive but we have the insurance policy in our name for the duration and the mum had been bankrolling all the supplies and everything so we won't be out of pocket when all is said and done.

They were due to be leaving us at the end of the month too to go somewhere else, which makes the timing all the more gauling.

Well she died last night, was apparently getting better but suddenly dropped off and that was it, they suspect a blood clot or something else, or complications from whatever the hell happened to her, they did their absolute best and even though we only had her for a short time, we'll remember her for the enormous fluff that she was.

Percy got hit by a car this afternoon. Thankfully he should be okay, definitely got a broken leg though. Will know more tomorrow.

It happened when I was walking him on a lead. He saw a dog on the other side of the road and pulled on the lead, desperate to go say hi (he's only 6 months old). I had him under control and got him to stop pulling and sit, but then he suddenly bolted again and the lead slipped out of my hand. A car just happened to be there and had no chance of stopping.

I feel awful that I'd managed to drop the lead, and now I'm going to be concerned about walking him again anywhere near a road.

Thankfully yes. He's with the Supervet from TV and they estimate £4-5k bill. Insurance should cover £3k of that and then I've got redundancy pay coming this week that will cover the rest.
