So sorry to hear about your loss :(

It'll be hard for now, but things will get better. Remember all the wonderful times you had together and you gave him a great life so he would've been very happy. You'll never forget their love and they'll always be with you in your memories.

Sorry man. :(

Ada is getting on a bit, over 13 now, so I've already started mentally preparing for the reality that she probably doesn't have a whole lot longer left in her.

We took her for her first proper groom since before the pandemic over the weekend, we hadn't been able to get her in anywhere for ages so have just been trimming her at home (not a fun experience for anyone!).

She was not best pleased about the whole thing:

"What the strawberry float is this all about, huh?!"

Dat bedroom harness :datass:

Jack is definitely slowing down now regarding the distance he can walk before struggling. When he was around 1 or 2, we could walk him for 12 miles easily before he'd visibly slow down. Now it's about 5 miles and he's clearly had enough.

Yeah Ada used to be able to walk forever without seemingly wanting a break, now she's like - "we've been out for more than 10 minutes, when the strawberry float are we going home?"

One year since we plucked a starving, bedraggled animal off a Scottish mountainside and he's now the softest, most affectionate cat ever. Happy rescue-versary, Coburn!

"Honey, I haven't seen Luna is a while, have you?"

"Oh darling, you and that cat. I'm sure she will be back from her daily roam any minute now."

I can't deny the party was mostly for us. He got a couple of new toys though, as well.

He was mostly confused because he knows he's not allowed to eat off the table, but we were encouraging him to do it. Also, he's only allowed dry biscuits, never wet or 'normal' food. Once he got the boiled chicken between his tiny jaws he was off, though. Scoffed that thing right down. He's spent today in a proper food coma

It's so cute when pets are encouraged to do stuff like that when they know they shouldn't. They hesitation on their faces even as you reassure them

One of my cats got hit by a car the other day.

Currently at the vets my wife works out, he needs some surgery to remove the remains of teeth that got broken but they have to check out his heart as have noticed an arithmya (or however you spell it), he currently has a full stomach which doesn't seem to be clearing which is also a worry but apparently otherwise everything organ wise seems fine so that's good.

He was home a little and just sat looking into space and wasn't very there, so we are concerned about brain damage too which sucks.

We think when he got hit it was mainly his face / head that took the blow as there were no breaks or anything other than teeth so yeah....

Hasn't been fun explaining this to the 5 hear old as figured it would be better to explain it all than pretend it's all ok or whatever.

Not need a fun few days.

That's awful Errkal, fingers crossed it isn't too bad and they manage to make a full recovery! Pets can be very resilient!

Finiarél and Errkal, sorry to hear both your news. That's bloody terrible.

We lost our 13 year old cat to cancer last year. It was horrid, had to say goodbye in the vets carpark on a busy road as we weren't allowed into the vets surgery. The poor little thing was petrified.

It was my first pet too, we got her just after we moved into our house, and had been with us through all our life changes, having a son etc. I was in absolute bits the day we had to have her put to sleep.

Thanks, he has been at the vets for a few days now.

He has been just sort of looking into space which could be brain damage but he also has broken teeth that need the bases taking out so is on pain killers so it could also be that.

Horrid situation is he needs to be knocked out for the teeth op but is too weak to risk the op, but until the op we can't stop the pain meds too if he is spaced from meds or brain damage.

Basically waiting to see if he improved enough for be knowcked out for long enough for the op and then after that we can see if he is basically gone brain wise......

He needs a feeding tube but that also requires knocking out but only breifly, so I think they are going to do that today as they think he is stable enough for the short knockout but the teeth op will take a couple of hours and put pressure on his head as they sort of dig the teeth out so yeah....... tough.

Sounds like putting him to sleep would be better? Hasn't your wife suggested that?

Poor thing :(

The have a cat specialist vet who has recommended waiting a week from the car hit "if" they can do the feed tube (which I think might be happening in the next hour or so).

By that point if he hasn't gotten strong enough for the knock out then yeah it will be curtains but I dont think he is pain as he is on hefty drugs, but yeah I dunno if I would be keeping him going personally if it wasn't for the cat specialist vet saying to do it ....

Him a couple of days ago:

I think he is looking better so yeah hopeful ....
