We had another Golden (Harley). He's no doubt a distant relative of Mylo.

There was a retriever at the field last night. It's been a quagmire for about two weeks; it was filthy. Looked like a black dog but was, in fact, golden.

Nala with her cone of shame after she had stiches in on a slight wound. It's totally healed now and she's fine.

D_C wrote:So we're getting a new dog on Saturday :D After our old one died earlier this year (around March I think), we got a bit sad at how quiet the place has been. We got in touch with our previous dog's breeder and she had a litter due in late August. We put our name down, but the only boy in that litter died soon after birth.

Then the same breeder got in touch with us last weekend to let us know she has a lovely 18 month old Golden who she was planning on using for breeding, but now can't as a condition with one of his eyes means she can't (something about the eye colour might change over time). It isn't anything bad for your average dog, but she goes for the pedigree (crufts and all that stuff), so only uses the best dogs.

TL;DR, meet Mylo:

And now she also has a litter due in November, and my parents are considering getting a pup, seeing as this fella is all trained and should be great company for another little one.

:D

So cute!

How much would one be looking at if one wanted one of those?

All depends on the breeder, and how much they care about the dogs genetic traits I'd imagine. I think my parents are paying £250 or so for Mylo, just because he's already 18 months old, but I think they sell pups for around double that. No idea if that's because she breeds pedigree dogs (for shows and the like) or not. I imagine if you've won high prizes in dog shows, you can ask for more money off of people.

Also, Nala is awesome Poser :D I sometimes wish we had a shorter haired dog. Not looking forward to all of the hair around the place again, even when you do groom them properly.

I now dislike leaving the house :(

He's settled in really well though. No crying or anything at all! A few behavioral things that need re-training (he likes jumping up on you when sat down), but he seems very quick to learn.

Didn't even know this thread existed. Any of you guys have a dog that keeps getting a dodgy stomach? Mine has been on and off over the past few weeks and I'm not really sure how to deal with it, I've been to the vets both times and they have run tests and found nothing wrong. As luck would have it she is going to the vets today anyway for booster shots but I know he will ask me to bring her in again in the week she will mean another £300+ bill that I will get next to strawberry float all back on the insurance.

Chances are its down to diet.

What sort of dog is it and what food do you use? I can ask the wife if she has any thoughts (she is a veterinary nurse).

As Errkal said, probably diet.

Alternatively, where do you walk her?

Our dog was throwing up last weekend, and has been shitting through the eye of a needle ever since. Hasn't been out of sorts with it, but you can tell she's a bit confused!

Anyway... it's because she drank from a puddle while she was off the lead last Sunday. Standing water contains all sorts of crap and you need to keep them away from it. I've had to walk Nala exclusively on the lead for the past couple of months, since the last floods, because her usual fields are covered in water.

Let her off last week, it was almost the first thing she did, and I've been mopping up doggy diarrhoea ever since. :|

On the beach with the hound yesterday morning (no dodgy water down there to make her ill...)

Watching the sun come up at Seaton Sluice beach as she hoons around me, playing with the other dogs, is currently my favourite thing in the world.

Just got home for christmas. There are two intruder cats living in my backyard with Bubbles. :| He's found himself a posse. Which he is constantly fighting with.

So getting my first cat in Jan.

Want to get a kitten but understand that they don't cope well without someone there all the time. Baring in mind I work 9.30-5.30 each day apart from weekends don't think that'll be too good for he/she.

So at what youngest age can you get a cat which won't be tearing up the joint if I'm out working all day?

It's not a good idea to let any aged kitten alone at home all day. They won't stop miaowing for a start.

We got our cat as a kitten and work the same sort of hours as that and he was fine. We left him to run around the house and he didn't make any mess luckily, but if you are worried I would close them in room that there isn't too much to mess up.

Fair enough so do you recommend getting a older cat? What age is deemed still as a kitten?

get a dog instead.

Get a kitten if you can, if only because you'll have the thing for longer. I couldn't hack getting an older pet and it only having a few years left.

Shut her/him in a room for a few days with some toys. Let her/him out to explore the house when you can supervise/keep them company. After a few days you can then just let him/her roam the house when you go to work. And then you just do the same thing before letting them outside.

Cats>dogs.
