My main reservation is that we've already got a fairly old dog who I'm not convinced is going to be impressed by a new fur ball appearing and taking all the attention away!

We've set the date to put the family dog to sleep.

I can barely read what I'm typing. I'm not ready for this.

Sorry to hear this, hopefully just old age and the dog had lived a good life?

He lived a full, much-loved life. He's pretty old for a Labrador, but unfortunately after 14 years his body has basically given out. He's been near-blind and arthritic for a couple of years, but the nerve damage in his rear half has progressed so far that he can barely support his own weight anymore, to the point that he can't even get out of bed to do his business.

Realistically we should have arrived at this decision months ago, but my mum couldn't bear to do it. It would be cruel to put it off any longer, so we'll be saying goodbye on Sunday.

Thanks, guys.

I think the worst part is knowing we have an exact, finite amount of time left. I've lost my fair share of pets in my time, but they've all gone quite suddenly. With him, we've been staring down the barrel of it for years, but nobody wanted to admit it was his time.

I feel awful for my mum, she loved that dog more than anyone. She'll be down the shelters before the year is out, I'd put money on it.

gooseberry fool man I'm so so sorry. I lost my cat this year as well and it's never easy. Just give him as much love as you possibly can while he's still with you, he'll appreciate it.

I don't live at home so we shouldn't really be mixing, but I'll be going over Saturday night to say my farewells, lockdown be damned.

RIP Domino. :(

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.
