Another respectable position; I'll take that! I really wanted to put on King Crimson's Starless and Bible Black as it's my fave of Red but that was obviously a non starter! Beak> also have better songs on that album but was restricted to the theme. Surprised Ironhide hadn't heard the PJ Harvey tune! Spotlights are relatively new to myself too; wanted an Isis tune originally but they don't have any short named songs.
My votes:
1. Playlist 15
Some math/post rock? Oh yesss!
Hadn't heard any of these bands before; love the Giraffes? Giraffes! and Alpha Male Tea Party tunes. Do Make Say Think was pretty good, but Mum was a bit insipid.
2. Playlist 16
QOTSA and DFA
The Manics and The King Gizzard tunes are pretty good - must listen to one of King Gizzard's albums, I've just heard the odd song on the radio.
3. Playlist 2
Love the Talvin Singh tune (it was the only one I hadn't heard previously) and the Aphex Twin and Underworld tracks are pretty good. Moby's Go is fine, though i prefer his stuff around the Animal Rights / Play era.
4. Playlist 14
Spiritualized, The Flaming Lips and Grandaddy tracks are all good. Didn't like really like The Antlers track though.
5. Playlist 13
Arctic Monkeys, BRMC, Hope of States and War on Drugs all pretty good; just didn't love the songs enough to promote higher.
Outside my top 5, my new (to me) artist highlights were: Wagamama Rakia (loving the heavy side of this tune), Phoria & Throwing Snow (love the spacey/scifi vibes), Pale Waves (fun pop). No real lowlights this week, something to like on all!
