The Playlist Game - THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT - Results Pg 7!

SEVENTEEN! Seriously, you guys are outdoing yourself. Amazing standard as always. The overall split was a bit more one sided than I had hoped, but at least we had a few from either side. Should make for some interesting voting.

A reminder of this week's theme.

Playlist 6 - The Long and Short of it

- This week I'm giving you a choice, to go short, or go long!

Go Short

- Every track you feature this week may have a maximum of five characters in its title. You may use a maximum of 18 characters in total.

Go Long

- Every track you feature this week must have a minimum of 20 characters in its title. You must use a minimum of 100 characters in total.

- Your playlist should consist of exactly four tracks and last no longer than 20 minutes in total.

I'd like you to PM me with your favourite five playlists, ranked from 1st to 5th. This can be the playlist you like the music best of, what you think fits the theme well, or just something you think is clever and original. It's entirely up to you.

Closing date for votes is 11.59 on Monday. If you've entered I would ideally like a vote, you will score -5 for your playlist if you fail to do so. If you haven't entered you are still welcome to vote.

Please feel free to discuss the playlists in this thread, but please try to keep yours anonymous, this adds to the fun of the game.

You don't have to listen to every minute of every playlist to vote. Please try to enjoy the music as much as possible, but I want this competition to be a casual, fun way to share music. Enjoy it, and don't stress too much.

Impressive that a round involving long song titles features no entries from Panic at the Disco or Fallout Boy.

But that's probably because I didn't enter.

I was definitely expecting at least one emo playlist. But then I also thought Long would be more popular.

I reckon you could sell that to 6music and they could stick it on and no one would notice any difference. BTW that's a good thing.

Friendly reminder that you don't have to listen to absolutely everything to vote. Spotify has that handy 30 second clip feature (although the sound quality can be quite variable on this). You can always investigate anything that takes your fancy afterwards.

I'll be listening to everything, probably twice. But that's because I have loads of free time.

I've got to go London for work tomorrow so this will be my soundtrack for the journey!

Damn. I don't think it's giving too much away to say that I'm one of the short playlists... but I went short on the basis that I'd interpreted the comments in the main thread as saying that most people were going long. :lol:

In case anyone is interested this was my provisional long playlist:

It didn't flow as I'd hoped though, and the first and third tracks didn't sound as great to my ear today as they once did, so I lost faith in it. Then I thought everyone was going long, so I pivoted...

I'm not sharing my original plan as some of those tracks might get worked into other playlists. But it was a very different first draft to what I ended up going with.

I strongly considered it actually, but I didn't think it would play well at all with the forum's audience.

Three playlists in, the standard is very high this week.

I actually intended using my long playlist at the last minute but somehow my PM didn't get through to MHTL, but having seen the high quality of nearly all of the other playlists I think its for the best that my short one was used instead, as quite frankly its a belter (to me at least).

Twin Atlantic are from the same town as me and I know a few folks who went to school with them - they all say very nice things about the band members. Shame about their music really. :slol:

No problem, I think my short list works a lot better anyway.

Playlist 3's opener is surprisingly heavy, the music is great but the j-pop vocals are not my cup of tea, too much autotune.

Like the Reol track though, sounds like something from a Persona game soundtrack.

Holy strawberry float, that King Crimson track in #4 is incredible.

My favourite playlist so far, everything on it is right up my street.

I think Spotlights are my new favourite band, love the Deftones vibes on that song, the one that's just come on after that playlist (Part II) is a banger too,
