Does anyone else download all the free gooseberry fool just for the sake of it? I get all the themes, mini's and free games, even though I don't play half of them. In fact I don't think I've ever played a mini but I have downloaded like 20 of them since December. :fp:

Tenner says most of that gooseberry fool remains unplayed until your 15 months are up, at which point it all goes away. Good one fuckface.

Getting punched in the face by a toothless hobo is better value than Live Gold. Doesn't mean it's a good offer in and of itself.

I haven't downloaded any free stuff. The only reason I like PSN+ is for BETA trials...but I'm strange like that.

I suddenly regret that time I bought Motostorm: Pacific Rift only to immediately return it, for gooseberry fools and giggles.

At least release The Last Story over here :shifty:

We've had a fair few high profile people browse our community.

Actually, anything that you bought on discount stays (including stuff that's "100% off" rather than simply "free", Stacking being the most recent example). Any DLC you got you also get to keep, because DLC doesn't have DRM on PS3. Fluff like avatars and themes stay too, as does any Full Game Trials or betas you still have.

I'd love to compile a list of the stuff I've got from Plus to date, because it hasn't even been a year yet, and it's already paid for itself several times over.

But as your Irish brethren stated earlier, most of the stuff he gets just sits on his PS3 unplayed. Yes, the value of what you can actually download is probably more than the cost of PSN+ membership, but when you wouldn't have even bothered getting half of the free or discounted stuff in the first place, it becomes sort of a false economy. You're probably right in saying that, for you as a fairly heavy-duty PS3 user, you've probably gotten your money's worth out of it, but I seriously doubt that applies to 90% of the other PS3 owners on the forum.

Like, if Microsoft suddenly said tomorrow that "for Gold members, all the NFL shirts for Avatars are completely free". Yes, I could go away and download what would equate to hundreds of pounds worth of goods for no cost, but there's very little actual value there. It's just creating content and demand where there was none before.

I'm talking specifically about the stuff I wanted when I say its paid for itself. The value of giving me something I don't want is £0.00. At a guess, I think I've been given about £350 worth of content to date, and about £140 is stuff I wanted. There's also great stuff like Full Game Trials, betas, Auto-Patches and Cloud Saves that don't have a price tag. The latter two are particularly awesome to have, though should really be there for everyone if they're in the OS.

The funny thing is, though, the best of the Plus stuff is better if you're not a heavy PS3 user. The amount of times I've been given something brilliant that I already paid for is frustrating, and Auto Patching is obviously more valuable if you would have otherwise had to wait for 5 patches for your game rather than just one.

The only real downside for Plus right now for me is that I can't see what's coming more than 2 months in advance. So, if I wanted to say, buy FFIX on the store right now, who's to say it won't crop up on Plus in 5 months?

The PSN version of Sonic 2 is pretty poor. Sega really need to sort out their Megadrive emulation.
