Exit polls predicting a landslide Yes vote on repealing the 8th in Ireland: 68:32. Which is amazing.

Didn't really expect anything other than a strong Yes vote but that's good news and long overdue.

I'm pleasantly surprised by that exit poll. Are Irish exit polls normally as reliable/accurate as UK ones?

Hopefully it’s correct (RTÉ’s own exit poll is the same) we had a record number of young voters, if that result holds true it’s another blow to the church and a further sign that we are truly a progressive country.

The irony is that as time goes on it seems that the DUP's main objection to the Republic is that it isn't Catholic enough.

Westminster need to go over their heads and hold a referendum on this and gay marriage here before the possibly of veto with the assembly out of action. It would be a formality as there is already majority support on both accounts but it would bury it once and for all.

DUP is really holding NI back. Wish they didn't get so much support here.

I take it Pope Francis won't attract anywhere NEAR the audience John Paul did in the 80s.

This is a massive image boost for a rapidly changing country, in the UK we've seen lots of news stories come out about women being refused abortion even if life is in danger.

Well done Ireland 8-)
