Trophies are pretty neat for classic games. I'm hoping that they will have some decent upscaling in place. Playing a PS1 game on a 4K screen? That could be really messy. I fear if it's done on a game by game basis, there will be some bangers and some mash. I haven't written off the Premium tier, but I have my doubts, especially when Extra will provide me with more games than I'll ever manage to play.
Looking forward to some poorly translated user reviews when the service launches in asia in a few days.
I reckon I'm just gonna stick to the existing level ("essential"). I just want access to online, really, and I'm a bit tired of everything entertainment-wise now needing a monthly sub.
The following PlayStation games have turned up in Asia:
Worms Armageddon Worms World Party Wild Arms Tekken 2 Syphon Filter Mr. Driller Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee Jumping Flash! Hot Shots Golf IQ: Intelligent Qube Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue Ape Escape
Quite limited at the moment, then. Hopefully more for the UK launch.
Syphon Filter, I.Q. Intelligent Qube, Hot Shots Golf, Ape Escape, and Wild Arms all have PS1 Trophies.
An unspecified number of PlayStation and PSP games will have Save Anywhere and Rewind functionality; multiple resolutions for PlayStation games (Native, 4:3 for 16:9, and Stretched) and three filters: Default, Retro Classic, and Modern. I guess one of those means faux scan lines? And maybe Modern is enhanced smoothing of textures ala PS2/3.
The additions are a mixed bag. There's a few in there I would like to give a play, but wouldn't buy. Hopefully there are a few gems which I haven't played before too.
It's not a complete loss as not every game seems to be 50Hz, apparently so far it's the Sony Japan ones (Everybody's Golf+Intelligent Qube/Kurushi+Ape Escape+Wild Arms+Jumping Flash) and the two Worms games.
So it sounds like Tekken 2, Toy Story 2, Oddworld and Syphon Filter are 60Hz at least
There are some good games on there but multiple examples of games in a franchise that aren't even the release before the most recent, stuff like Watch Dogs but not Watch Dogs 2 or Legion. Makes it feel cheap.
The list doesn't appear to be anywhere near the 700 games promised, so I suspect they're running a little behind schedule.
I dont think this will be a must have for seasoned gamers who have been buying big titles since PS5 launched, but for gamers like me who have only recently bought the system, half a dozen must play games and some nice indies to try and there is already value for money. I hope and expect the lineup will improve over time. It's Extra for me and this moment in time. I'm happy to pay £30 for Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman MM, Returnal, Guardians of The Galaxy, Lawn Mowing Simulator, South Park Fractured But Whole and Death Stranding.

Game trials and classic games. We'll get Premium in place of Deluxe, which is the same thing but includes PS3 game streaming which is currently the only way to play those games.
To confuse matters, most PS4 remakes of PS1 to PS3 era games go under Deluxe / Premium.
PS exclusive games aside (of which there are a good selection), the vast majority of the games offered there have been on Game Pass or PS+ at some point.
I can see this being far more appealing to those who have never had a Game Pass sub or have only just picked up their first PS console.
