The New PS+ Thread

I only use PlayStation plus for some online games (Nioh 2) was the last big one and also for the cloud saves. The games are a very rare bonus.

I wish they'd give us a choice of 5 games or 3 games and 2 expansions DLC and we get to choose one. Maybe even instead of game one month choose a 10% discount on a pre order.

Got an email direct from Sony offering me the chance to order a PS5 today. A year in and I'm still struggling to see a good reason to do so. This kind of behaviour isn't helping.

This is good news if true, and overdue. Gamepass is a killer app and PS5 looks less appealing when placed side by side. I've bought several Nintendo and Microsoft consoles, but Playstation has always been my go to brand. The longer I wait to buy in to this generation, the more appealing Xbox is becoming and I am considering buying an Xbox first on the strength of Gamepass.

Do it. PS5 will have more of its own compelling reasons to be bought as the gen goes along, but Xbox + Game Pass (Ultimate) is crazy good value *right now*. Many times more so if you get cheap 12 months of Live Gold x 3 and do the conversion to GPU trick. (Which is what I did and am having a blast. Will return to PS5 when the exclusives start rolling in again next year, but I am ending the year playing SX. Though I wish I could use my DualSense on the SX. Not because haptics, etc are amaze, but bc X pad's rumble is piss poor. You can hear the bloody motors!!)

Xbox nearly got a clean recommendation if it wasn’t for those damn haptic motors! :lol:

I gotta be honest! Nothing is perfect. And despite the complaints I would still highly recommend it. You legit cannot go wrong with either; PS5 has some fantastic exclusives and cross-gen titles which take advantage of the console, and SX is starting to get those and has GP/GPU.

Re the SX pad: I think it's the triggers. The rumble/haptic/whatevs on the triggers is really coarse and noisy. But then Hollow Knight's (which I was re-playing for most of yesterday) use of the pad rumble on SX is perfect – I can feel it but never hear it. Ditto a large number of other games. But there are a few, two of which are FH5 and CoD Vanguard, which pull me out of the game due to how crap the triggers (if that's what it really is) sound. Ruining immersion... that's a sin. And yeah, headphones might just be a great workaround to cancelling the pad noise out and may even bring about immersion quicker. Ta for the suggestion.

Mafia Definitive Edition really shows up GTA3.

The Mortal Shell game included in PS Plus this month has been confirmed as only being the PS4 version with no (free or otherwise) upgrade for PS5 owners; the PS5 version still costs the full £24.99 after downloading the PS4 version to a PS5.

I love the PS4 and like the PS5 but, dang, after leading last gen Sony now seems to be actively trying to frustrate players at the mo' :lol:

I have has my PS5 1 (one) week, and, try as I might, I still cant find anything defendable about the way they are treating their userbase.

I look forward to their great single player titles that are exclusive to the platform (together with a few indies that both don't make it to Xbox and run like arse on Switch), and anything that is multiplatform but REALLY benefits from the Dual Sense (i'm guessing close to zero on this one), but i can see me getting / playing everything else on Series X.

Edit - sorry, thought this was the general Ps5 chat thread. My point still stands but this probably wasn't the right place to make it.

For me I’d like them to include the PS2/PS3 back catalogue in Plus.

I understand paying more for PS4 games now but games that’s been out nearly 20 years come on give them user base some slack and reward for supporting you.

(Still mad my PS1 back catalogue on the store on my PS3 can’t be used on PS4 or PS5 tbh..

Yeah, all the time these barriers to playing old PS 1-3 games exist, the passion for the brand continues to be weakened.

I loved playing through Astro's Playroom, but seeing all the retro hardware and games just made me a bit sad that I could not access them from their newest, fanciest console. It made it far more bittersweet than I think it was intended to be.

It almost needs Jim Bowen to pop up and say "look at what you could have won".
