The bit just before with the courtyard outside the burning house was bad for it too. In the end I did that by memorising the best order to take the guys out, which is a bit gooseberry fool as you should be able to think on your feet a bit more.

Also, I find the combat falls apart when anyone gets close to you. Near the start of the game, they had you fight that armoured guy as a combat tutorial, dodging, taking him down bit by bit, yet nothing like that has been in the game since. If you try to dodge anyone like they told you to in that bit, then it just cuts to her getting killed.

Maybe I could make a load of those poison suffocation things and just cheese my way through it, but those take up loads of materials and I'm trying to upgrade everything.

Finished A Plague Tale.

I enjoyed it despite the small flaws, and the biggest one is the combat. It’s awful. Like Ad7 says, the courtyard one where you need to break in a burning house is a pain in the ass.

One pro tip is to upgrade the pockets FIRST so you can carry more materials for crafting.

Had to cheese it at the end by using the infinite crafting glitch as I was only one equipment max away from getting the trophy and I don’t fancy replaying it just to get that trophy.

It’s a solid 7/10 game. An enjoyable adventure but the frustrating combat lets it down when you are forcing to fight. The stealth combat works. The puzzles aren’t taxing but enjoyable when you crack it.

How did you do that bit then?!

It took several tries.

I took down the one that’s coming out of the gate, then the two that appears from the left. Then finally melt the big one’s helm then quickly took him down. All from the same position.

Urgh, that's abysmal.

Is Tennis World Tour 2 any good? I'm not expecting Virtua Tennis/Top Spin/Smash Court but I wouldn't mind something reasonably decent. Trust them to put tennis on there when Wimbledon has finished.

Unfortunately, KK, it's very average - rated 56 on Metacritic after 24 reviews. It feels like many years have passed since we've seen a decent tennis game; I'd like to try Mario Tennis Aces but the price has never really dropped and, of course, that's a far more casual take on tennis anyway.

As for the free PS Plus games, the current approach has never floated my boat. I can't fault the value but instead of paying Sony to pick out a few games for me and disregarding my tastes, I'd prefer either:

a) They allowed us to pick one game from a selection of three or four; or
b) They instead gave us an exclusive discount; maybe something like "£15 off Mass Effect trilogy this month" or "£10 discount on any game priced at £25+"

Definitely the worst month ever. Awful.

In which case this surely must be one of the worst PS Plus months ever.

I was expecting DiRT 5 or Two Point Hospital to have appeared by now. The jumbo edition of TPH is £23.99 at Argos and I have a voucher so I may as well just buy it rather than waiting (famous last words...).

I'd rather have a big, older PS4 title like Resident Evil 2 than an average PS5 game.

Maybe this is why they're giving us 6 months of Apple TV+

It's perhaps worse for PS4 players. Not only are pretty duff games being dished out but Sony make it clear that you're a second-class citizen by getting fewer games and no TV offers... even though we're paying the same money and have probably paid it for years now.

It’s these type of months where Sony really should have taken something from their own back catalogue. Either something like Uncharted The Lost Legacy or even PS2 games like PaRappa the Rapper could have happily been a bonus title.

If they got any/more PS1 and PS2 titles working on PS4 and 5 that would also prop up thoroughly bad months.

Microsoft manage it routinely with Games with Gold/Ultimate. These games are just sitting there selling practically nothing but add value to a subscription.

I've done it before and I will again if we get any more similarly awful months. I'd think twice if I lost them for good, of course.

What is this, Games with Gold?

I think they need to change it up now to get on the same level as Microsoft. Its putting me off buying a ps5 tbh. I just can't see what value ps+ brings.

I'd have thought they'd have made that move by now. So I don't see it happening any time soon.

This is potentially out and out the worst month in a while. Going back to late last year, there has been at the very least one very good/interesting game in the line up: https://blog.playstation.com/category/ps-plus/page/2/ Sometimes, the good/interesting games have outnumbered the average/not great ones, even. So there's definite value to be had, but it's rare that you get GamePass level releases.
