Releases June 10th - The Quarry comes from Supermassive Games who are behind Until Dawn and the Dark Pictures series, it's a spiritual successor to Until Dawn. This interactive horror game allows you to decide what happens as 9 young camp counsellors must survive a night at Hackett's Quarry in Upstate New York while being hunted by blood-drenched cursed locals and werewolves.

It has a decent cast including David Arquette, Ariel Winter, Brenda Song and Justice Smith.

**

I've not seen any topics for this (unless I'm searching incorrectly or no one is actually interested.. :( :shifty: ) I loved Until Dawn and have really started to get into interactive games that tell a story in this way. Just preordered the Deluxe edition on the Turkish PSN store (Saving me nearly an extra £40 on the UK PSN price.. :x )

On PC CD Keys has it for £31.99 currently - https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/the-quarry-pc-ps3199-preorder-at-cdkeys-3944622

Awesome, I loved Until Dawn and had no idea they had a new game coming out. Hopefully the game will be different enough from Until Dawn as the setting looks a little similar.

Definitely interested though.

I love the look of this. I will be waiting for it to hit Game Pass or deep sale though, as that's the best opportunity I will have to play it online with a friend who I know will enjoy it also (I think i'm right in saying that the online MP is not available at launch anyway?).

These types of games are always a lot of fun. Love the idea of being able to tailor each characters..... character, and then letting it auto play like a movie.

Absolutely can’t wait for this. I haven’t played the last 2 Dark Picture games but Until Dawn and Man of Medan were quality.

Just finished House of Ashes yesterday to complete the Dark Pictures Anthology (so far) and loved Until Dawn too.

This is definitely on my list, but I'll wait for a sale etc.

Until Dawn was their lightning in a bottle. Everything else they've done has gotten worse and I don't think I'll be bothering with this one.

Surprised to see an advert for this on All4, channel 4’s streaming service. It looked ace.

Just downloaded and about to play I’m excited! I can’t get the deluxe dlc to download though just keeps giving me error messages and nothing I’ve tried works that I’ve seen online.

It’s really dark

Prologue done. Pretty! Already been hit by two jump scares.

Did anyone else have a really red ear at end? Not sure if graphics bug or feature

Played the demo over the weekend (why on earth it was labelled as being the 'Free to Play' option as opposed to just saying it was a demo was beyond me), and I liked it. I like the idea of a movie mode where the game just plays itself if you're in the mood to just watch it as a horror movie, but I was quite annoyed at the (lack of) choices on offer in places. Especially when you've got to make decisions over dumbshit nonsense but then when the Harbinger turns up and tells you to go the motel LITERALLY CALLED THE strawberry floating HARBINGER MOTEL, because this was written with all the subtlety of bricking a toddler in the head, and then doesn't give you the option to actually do so. Like, don't waste my time with all these 'every decision matters' messages if you're not going to actually let me choose to do the important things differently.

They strawberry floated up. The demo was the entire game (at least on PS where it 45gb) and people quickly found out (I'm told) how to access the full thing

It's Yakuza 6 all over again. I honestly can't believe that mistakes like this still get made.

Completed Chapter 4.

A couple of the characters have become more unlikeable,  but there's no one that's as offensively horrible from the off as in Until Dawn. All alive so far and only (I think) 3 obvious instances were they could have died.

It's already split people up into easy lop off sections if they die - which is understandable. Nothing quite as egregious as Claire for Heroes taking a 5 hour bath like Until Dawn so they had a character left to focus on.

The creepy post missions visions so far are to brief/unclear to be much help. Until Dawn did them better I think

Choices/thoughts/spec

It seems to be Werewolves - but weren't there here two months? What about last full moon? Although like Until Dawn seems there's several things happening - ghost woman looking for Silas (the dog boy!) so might be linked

Hunters, despite being creepy, don't seem to actively want to hurt the kids. I'm assuming the bloody covering on them (and now Jacob) is protection or something?

Nick got mauled. (Couldn't see how to avoid. Abi escaped being attacked, but Nick seemed destined to - unless an earlier choice changes things). Nick's feeling hungry. Nick doesn't appear to be as wounded as they first thought. This is totally fine.

I'm assuming Emma could die on Island - but she's escaped for now.

The body in lake is throwing me. Didn't look like missing counsellor, and Werewolves would have killed/eaten surely?

Yea it was a 45gb download on PC too. Maybe I’ll have… a look around…

Bit annoyed the DLC costumes that came with the Deluxe preorder you can't access yet, seems a bit daft.

And done. Chapter 10 down, all survived (ish).

Sadly not a patch on Until Dawn for me. The characters are better but the story and mechanics fall apart towards end.

Story/choices spoilers

So Jordan/Emma/Abi are obviously the easy kills. The way they're sidelined from the story is very obvious. Even when you release Jacob, naked from a cage, your character sends him off on his own into the mines (away from narrative) unarmed and no idea if a way out

Laura/Max returned gives them a "safe" protagonist to make the game around later. On reflection Ryan/Kaitlyn are pretty safe too - not too many chances to see I saw till late on. But chapter 7 is a huge drag and kills a lot of momentum.[

Dylan (who could die and presumable became infected) just hides in room during Kaitlyn's climax to keep out of the way of events.

I ended up killing all the Hacketts (bar Travis, who I got in a quick rerun) - never really felt connected to Chris so wasn't a hard choice.

Why were Caled/Kaylee roaming about biting people when Chris was locked up? The entire story doesn't happen without that but it doesn't seem to be explained?

Eliza/Silas should have not be included. It just doesn't make a great deal of sense, the final confrontation is boringly silly. He's wandered but came back here for this two month period. They've hunted him every full moon, but never looked at remains of camp? Again without much info on Silas the choice isn't exactly hard.

They obviously wanted to have "there's two things going on!" like when you realised there's a psycho and monsters in UD, but it doesn't really work.

Amazingly little conclusion to anyone's narrative. Felt like a reunion scene or two were missing. The slideshow didn't answer mention many questions. And I don't "ship" anyone here but the lack of resolution to any of them is insane,

And then the podcast...while kinda hints at what happens next but basically just runs through the evidence you've collected. Poor.

Not a bad game by any means, but no where near Until Dawn's near gold standard.

Looking at it you have chapter select now but you have to replay the entire game from your selection each time you use it.

And it looks like you need to get every collectable in a single playthrough so if you missed one in Chapter 2 you have to replay Chapters 2-10

Nope.
