The off licence close to where I work is brilliant for letting me try samples too. Makes a hell of a difference when you find somewhere that is passionate about what they sell.

Nice prices there. Might pick up some more Highland Park. If you haven't tried Dalwhinnie 15 yet, now is the time to take the plunge! Truly spectacular single malt.

I'm still a gooseberry fool whisky n00b, basically buy a bottle of mass-produced guff like Bell's when it's on offer.
But a couple of weeks back I picked up a bottle of Gentleman Jack since it were on offer in Tesco. It's alright.

Been experimenting with Bourbons recently. I got some Woodford Reserve but have to confess to being disappointed with it. Nice and smooth but found the charcoaly edge to it was quite overbearing.
Still, the sleek looking bottle looks splendid in my collection.

Still loving the hell out of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, and I'll be looking to get something new soon. Might try another of the Bruichladdich range. Maybe one of the 16yo.
Is that Woodford Reserve supermarket-available anywhere?

I actually picked it up for £21.99 at Waitrose. Absolute bargain, it was on special offer. Not sure if that's still on but it seems to be becoming increasingly available.

Popped by Waitrose on the way home to get some. Up to £26, so not such a bargain, but still not bad. Haven't tried it yet. What am I waiting for?
They also had some Aberlour A'bunadh (up to batch 31 now), for about £27, which is loads cheaper than my local specialist store, so I know where to go when I'm running low.

Has anyone heard of a liquor called Tennessee Bell/s? I swear years ago having a Tennessee Bell with coke, not sure if it was whisky or possibly a rum, I'm not sure. I've tried searching for it on the net, but nothing comes up. I must have the name mistaken slightly.

Tesco have a load of good prices again. Got a bottle of Balvenie 12yo Signature there yesterday. They'd already knocked £6 off the shelf price, and they sent me a voucher last month for another £5 off. £20 instead of over £30.

I'm just bumping this, as a kind of antidote to all the pansy-drink talk in the Pissheads Thread. Bunch of Ladyboy drinkers.
Anyway, now the hottest of the weather is over so I don't crave cold drinks, I've been enjoying getting back to Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, and I treated myself to another of the Bruichladdich 16s. Bring on the winter.

I've found my new best whisky ever: Amrut Fusion!
It's an Indian single malt made from both Scottish and Indian barley, and it's incredible. It's also 50% proof, so it's a good choice if you're after something to warm you up!

I've wanted to try that for some time, seems to have won alot of plaudits. Funds are low at the moment but it's very high on the list once I am able.
Last bottle I got was a Talisker 10. one of the cast iron classics that had somehow evaded my collection for years.
Aberlour A'bunadh is still my favourite by some distance though.
Has anyone tried that English Whisky Company malt?

Downed a gooseberry fool load of Laphroaig over the weekend at a wedding up in Aberfoyle. Man that stuff is morish, much better than the gooseberry fool I used to steal out of my dad's alchohol collection.
