I don't know anything about rum but when I was on holiday, my girlfriend and I went on a tour of Mount Gay Rum and found I really liked the taste. Came back with a bottle.

I picked up a bottle of Glenmorangie for Christmas and have just finished my Jura Superstition. I'm no good at describing the nose or notes or anything but I'll go with 'tastes dead nice and smells like a bag of toffees'

I usually just pick up anything that's on offer: Famous Grouse, Whyte and MacKay and Teachers are usually yellow-labelled in Tesco. I will need to pay the Whisky Experience a visit though, I'll just make sure and leave my credit card at home!

Try a bottle of highland park, usually on offer in sainsburys.
Now THAT'S a good Whisky! Much better than your grouses and teachers! Perhaps my favourite single malt without breaking the bank. Plus the bottle is sexy.

My Ma has been making Christmas cakes, she makes them for loads of people and started last week.

Everything seemed grand until I found out she has burned through a full bottle of Jim Bean as an ingredient in the Christmas cakes, my strawberry floating Jim Bean

Two year old thread my ass. Where have all the Whisky drinkers gone!?

I got these for my birthday the other day.

The Highland Park 12 is still my regular favourite.
Still lovely and smokey sweet and such a treat on the nose.

The Springbank 15 is a new edition to my favourites list.
We went to the Whisky shop in Covent Garden (sort of opposite the savoy and down a bit if you're on Strand).

I told the guy I liked Highland Park, Macallan, AnCnoc, tallisker etc and he recommended the Springbank 15.

Luckily he had a bottle open in his sample cupboard and gave me a dram.

Quite subtle on the nose, but the taste was almost like the perfect Whisky. Great balance of Peat, Vanilla and Oak. And its so smooth. the chap said it was alarmingly easy to drink an entire bottle over a couple of nights, and I believe him.

Looking forward to cracking it open.

Anyone had any Bulleit Bourbon?

I love Woodford Reserve but it's not hugely available in Rome. I saw this one though but have never had it before.

I've had the Springbank 10, it's delicious. And yer man's right, based on how long that lasted!

I've been enjoying Old Pultney of late, another smoothy. I can't really do the whole pallet thing but I do know I like it

Go to whiskey is Bushmills Blackbush but I do treat myself to a bottle of 10 year from time to time. Would love to try the 16 year but can't find a bottle at a decent price.

I like Bulleit Bourbon. Really good for making Old Fashioned cocktails and drinking neat.
