I haven’t tried it, so it might be fine.

Managed to pick up a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail from Amazon as a fairly decent price.

Have to say I'd recommend it.

Grabbed a bottle of Woodford Reserve as it was offer in Tesco (£20 - I assume that's a decent price?) and it's very nice.

Building up a nice little collection now - my wife asked me why I needed another bottle so soon after she'd bought me the Monkey Shoulder. I made the classic and righteous point that the more bottles of whisky I have, the more each bottle will last.

I mean to be fair, I do think this is a fine point...it's nice having a collection and choosing which one you fancy. It lets you savour each for longer, and helps avoid you getting bored of the same one each time.

I often find that when I only have one bottle on the go I'll buy a new bottle when the decanter is low then drink the dregs really quickly to get to the new one.

So if you think about it, if you only have one bottle of whisk(e)y at a time you're going to die of the booze.

Thanks, will give that a try. Not many bars can make it properly from my experience. One i had the other day tasted too strong and orangey and had a lime slice in it!

I made some Old Fashioneds with the Woodford Reserve I got recently, very nice!

Do you use the standard angostura or the orange one?

standard - theres nothing stopping you using orange bitters but its not usual.

I didn't even know they did an orange one.

I used sugar syrup in mine as opposed to an actual sugar cube, worked quite well. We also have these ice cube trays that create massive cubes of ice that look cool in the glass.

Yeah, I saw that they were doing orange bitters, but will try out the standard one with an actual orange peel slice. I've read Buffalo Trace is also a good whisky to have. I need to get those larger ice cubes, that's for sure!

Make sure the white pith is removed from the orange peel. Then give it a good squeeze over the glass to get the oils out.
