Meet the cast

The Cast is the actors who were 'cast' to play the roles..

Those are the characters..

I think we're all beginning to lose sight of the real issue here, which is: what are we going to call ourselves? I think it comes down to a choice between "The League Against Salivating Monsters" or, my own personal preference, which is "The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society." One drawback with that--the abbreviation is C.L.I.T.O.R.I.S.

Exactly my thoughts. Series 1-6 is comedy gold. Series 7 is worth it purely for the nazi ace rimmer sequence and the kennedy assasination episode.

Series 8 is awful in every single way. The only half decent episode is the future predicting computer one.

The Dave episodes never happened. NEVER HAPPENED!

They ruined the whole premise of the show by bringing Kochanski in and getting rid of Rimmer. The whole point was that he was stuck with the one person he wanted to be with the least, then they change it so he's stuck woth the one person he wanted to be with the most... good going :fp:

Also a personal pet peeve is i hate it when they change actors/actresses who play characters in a show so Kochanski always seemed.. wrong.

And bringing back the ship and everything... ugh. I only watched the first Dave episode and i did not laugh, giggle or titter.

Didn't one of the writers leave after series six. I thought the first episode of series 7 was really good but I could have done with everything after that point.

The first episode of season 7 didn't really make any sense though. They have a time drive, sure, and they talk about getting a faster than light drive in the S6 finale which they somehow (I forget how) obtain and then they go back to the past to gt curry or something but at no time do they think: "Let's go back to just before Rimmer killed everyone on Red Dwarf and stop it happening so we can get on with our lives". They just float about in the year 3,000,000 doing strawberry float all.

That's how I remember it anyway, maybe I'm wrong...

Red Dwarf was lost. They were searching for it, without using the time drive, in the hopes that they wouldn't become their future selves.

Quarantine was always my favourite episode for some reason.

Also, Red Dwarf ended with series 6. I have never seen or heard of anything else after that last one with the future selves. Anyone contradicting me will really get my feckles up.

Favourite comedy show evar!.

Watched a few episodes last night; one of the best lines:

"Listen, girls. I don't know whether this is the time or place to say this but my mate Ace here is incredibly, 'credibly brave!"

Obviously you need the context as it's not funny on its own by it gets me every time .

The episode after that:

"Rimmer, you could not pull a rotten tooth out of a dead horse's head with that one."

Oh man, I need to get them all on DVD and go for a marathon. It's been far too long!

Red Dwarf series 1 and 2 were great.

Red Dwarf series 3-6 were incredible!

Series 7 started okay... then Kochanski came and ruined it.

Series 8 was ruined even more by bringing the crew back but I have to admit Kill-Crazy and Captain Hollister were brilliant and just for that I would say its better than series 7.

Back to Earth... crap, very few jokes, a plot that has been done a thousand times before and better and left way too many questions after ignoring everything that took place in series 1-8.

And the return of Holly!

Lister: Holly, we need your advice, mate. We've been cornered by a T-Rex that was formerly a sparrow, and the only thing that can turn it back into Woody Woodpecker is in its stomach. What's your take on the situation?
Holly: What do you want? The long or the short version?
Lister: Long.
Holly: You're finished.
[pause]
The Cat: What's the short version?
Holly: Bye.

Rob Grant, one half of Grant Naylor the writing team behind the whole series, left after series 6. Not only that, Chris Barrie had grown so sick of Craig Charles he quit. I'm amazed they didn't end it at this point but it was at its height and had ended on a cliffhanger so I suppose they had to. 7, which Doug Naylor co-wrote with a series of guest writers, was a terrible, terrible series with 8 being marginally better (Cassandra being the stand-out episode). I really liked the Back to Earth mini-series; the 1st ep was gash of the highest order but the 2nd two were genuinely funny.
