Also, I assume you all know this tactic but if you upgrade a weapon's capacity in Resi 4, the merchant fills the gun with ammo for you. So if you use all your shotgun's loaded shells and know a merchant is nearby, don't reload. Just upgrade capacity.

I rarely reload my guns other than my pistol between merchants to be honest. By the end of the game I'll have an inventory just full of shells and TMP ammo because of this.

Yeah that's pretty standard fare. I usually go mental with fully upgraded weapons at the start of the second playthrough because I have so much extra stuff. Think I'mma buy this on XBox if it's still on offer.

I have enough games to play without replaying Resident Evil 4 without you guys making me want to play RE4 again!

I'm a little ashamed to admit that I've never played the early RE games to completion, nearly got there with REMake a few years ago but stopped playing and never went back. RE4 was my first Resident Evil game really and its probably my favourite ever game, but the others were a little hard to get into largely due to the controls. Recently picked up RE and RE0 archives on Wii so they're on the to do list!

I've played a lot of resi games, started with resident evil on the Saturn, a port from the PS1. I had a bit of a break after, but played 2, nemesis REmake and zero on the cube. I remember first picking up 4, a somewhat radical change in camera and a switch up to a faster pace. The thing I love about it, is it still holds true to what resi is, even with a refinement and slight slant towards action.

You can see quite a bit of modern games in it too, especially 3rd person games. Still stands up well, a bargain at sub £10, even though I own the cube version I imported from play Asia.

This is where EA have gone wrong with dead space, but that's a gripe for a different thread!

Hey Glowy, if you want a fun semi-difficult challenge, try beating the game in under 2hrs. Pretty solid even with the special weapons but plenty doable.

Isn't that nonsense though? I thought you got gun parts if you manage to down him?

I stood my ground in the restaurant, and Jill throws a light in and sparks some gas canisters, and when you go through, he is lying on the floor with these gun parts.

I think if you down him at certain points, you get enough parts to assemble it all.

Glowy, I'm surprised at you. Yes, Parksey, take him down at key points for bonuses.

When he throws you to the ground, mash everything like crazy!!! It's better to go into a nemesis fight with single green herbs to stay on green health and avoid wastage. Might sound crazy, but I prefer to just use the hand gun, since the shotty takes longer to aim, fire and recover in time to move again.

Get a safe distance away (not too far or he'll run towards you!), stand and get off two or three shots max while he walks towards you, then run away again a short distance just as he grabs for you, then repeat. He'll occasionally just run in with a punch instead, but that's what the herbs are for.

I never had any consistent luck with the dodge feature, though I suspect if you could nail that it would make everything easier...

The opening little village fight in Resi 4 is still the best start to a game in history. Absolutely love it.

Legally I'd say get them off PSN as even used copies of the PS/GC versions are going for silly money.

Its paced really well too.

the first time you play it, when you maybe get on a roof, or run behind the houses, maybe you got the shotty or not, maybe you're holding your own, you're thinking this can't get any worse...

Then that chainsaw roars up.

gooseberry fool GOT REAL
