I've always liked Gap, but finding one of their shops near me was always difficult as they always seemed quite few and far between anyway. Very few places to go now for men's clothes on the high street. I almost always end up having to buy online, which isn't ideal.

Almost every time anyone wore a GAP shirt at school.

Was never very keen on Gap anyways, even at their outlet stores i never found anything i particularly liked.

Still leaves a big, well, gap (yes i know it's already been done) in some high streets though.

I see the Disney store in Belfast (among others) is to close this month. Apparently they're just planning on keeping the London and Dublin stores.

Oh yeah, even the one in the Metro Centre in the North East is closing. That's been there for as long as I can remember.

Metro Centre is starting to get a lot of empty stores and no sign of anyone interested in moving in. I suspect in the next 12 months 1 of two things will happen, either they'll start charging for parking (maybe a validated parking with every purchase) or they'll knock down a large section of it and turn it into flats.

It needs a massive gym or an indoor market.

The oldest Mcdonalds in the metro centre (near m and s) has now closed. Meaning they have gone from 3 to 1 in-store. If McDonalds can't survive in there then no business has a chance. Oh and Metro Centre House of Fraser is closing forever this week too.

Didn't Metro Centre used to have an indoor market years ago somewhere near the Mediterranean area?

I think Buff said the GAME in there have moved to a smaller unit without the Arena thing too?

Well that's a bit gooseberry fool, i like their stores and really can't say i'm thrilled at the prospect of only being able to visit them on Oxford St.

It used to have a med village with some smaller shops and it had occasional pop up markers in the centre bits. Not sure about an actual market though.

Yep game has moved opposite to where it was, from a huge store to a small one with all your gaming essentials... Funkos, american sweets and of course.... Lego.

My town looks like even more of a gooseberry fool hole nowadays. Was up there last week for the first time in over a year and it's really noticeable with ever other shop boarded up and homeless people everywhere. It's a really depressing thing to see.

Convenience store chain McColl's is on the brink of collapse, potentially placing thousands of jobs at risk.

The retailer said it was "increasingly likely" it would fall into administration unless talks around a rescue deal were successful.

The statement on Thursday came after Sky News reported the company could call administrators in on Friday.

More than 16,000 people are employed by McColl's, which also has a partnership with supermarket Morrisons.

The company wrote that without any fresh funding in the short-term, the group would likely "be placed into administration with the objective of achieving a sale of the group to a third-party purchaser and securing the interests of creditors and employees".

But the chain also stressed on Thursday that discussions are still ongoing.

It added that it wanted to create a "stable platform for the business going forward".

The 1,400-store group has a wholesale tie-up with Morrisons, as well as Martin's newsagents, with a strategy centred around an image of a "neighbourhood retailer".

How do you strawberry float up running corner shops?

I'm sure magazines and paper sales are down. Why would people now want to spend more on items they can get cheaper on the weekly shop.

So weird, was in one today. Only to use the built in post office. Shop is still in the 90s. Overpriced and 30 year old laminate flooring.

We have a one stop just down the road within walking distance, and it's brilliant for the odd thing but I'd never properly shop there.
