Some positive news, Carluccios is reopening some stores. The best chain cafe by a mile. Amazing coffee and their breakfast is exceptional.

The one in Saint Albans closed ages ago. BOO!!!

The wife and I always stop for a drink in the one at Gunwharf when we are there.

Guardians reporting a last ditch attempt to prevent liquidation of Debenhams via a sale at the moment.

Whilst I think there’s a business there, I’m not sure if anyone would come in that’s not a fund or.. Mike Ashley. But Ashley would pretty much be the end of the company as we know it I guess - and unsure if the competition watchdog would allow that.

Debenhams is competition for House of Fraiser and John Lewis at this point I would think it would be better to let Debenhams because it might stay the collapse of the other two by providing more customers.

Has anyone been into house of Fraser in the last year. It’s awful, Ashley has filled it with his own brands like Champion, Donnay, firetrap, no fear, Lonsdale etc.. to make up for the loss of brands that refused to do business with him, it’s a strawberry floating awful mess.

Debenhams is a much nicer place to shop and a better business however it was destroyed by years over paying its shareholders and using debt (like most big businesses that eventually crumble) to finance its rapid expansion. On a store to store basis (like many other companies before it, that have disappeared) its a viable company.

I don't think I've ever been in a house of Fraser.

Agreed, the store in Bath is really nice.

Only time I ever used to go in the House of Fraser in Cheltenham was to use the toilets. Don't think I've ever made a purchase in one

The paperchase concession has come in handy sometimes.

I really liked house of Fraser before it got filled with sports direct garbage. It's still got a good sale section but the quality is watered down by all these low end market brands. Most of it seems to stick about for months without actually selling it seems.
