13,000 people losing their jobs a month from Christmas is absolutely grim. :(

Absolutely terrible.

If there's any justice, Green will end up in a court somewhere for his mismanagement and liability.

Clothes shopping online is rubbish as well.

Everyone purchasing 10 items and sending 9 of them back isn't sustainable either. Maybe tech will come to the rescue ('I'm wearing my Peter Stringfellows in VR'), but at the moment it's plop.

People do the same thing at shops. In Primark people seem to buy loads of stuff try it on at home and then bring half of it back.

Shops in England will be allowed to stay open for 24 hours a day in the run-up to Christmas and in January, the housing secretary has said.

Local authorities will be able to temporarily waive the rules restricting retail opening hours.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Robert Jenrick said the relaxation of the rules would allow shopping to be "more pleasant and safer".

Shopkeepers and councils would decide how long stores stay open, he added.

Commiserations to the poor strawberry floaters getting the graveyard shifts though I guess some work is better than none. :dread:

Honestly I think I'd prefer the graveyard shifts, less customers and stress.

24 hours a day shops. During a pandemic, during a lockdown, during tier 3 of a lockdown.

Apparently it's all part of the government strategy called - Helping Economy Recover Dynamically

Guess Primark and bad management has lead to the demise of the Arcadia group, I heard Debenhams will also have issues as they have something to do with the group too.

Debenhams was part of the Burton Group until the late 90s when they demerged, the Burton Group then became Arcadia. I don't think Debenhams had any remaining financial/ownership links with Arcadia other than the old pension scheme.

It's to do with the possible sale of Debenhams to JD Sports. JD Sports were looking likely to buy them out of administration. However since Arcadia is now facing administration too, and Arcadia outlets are the biggest concession inside of Debenhams stores, this is giving JD Sports cold feet about the purchase because there's probably going to be large parts of each store empty and needing filling up.

So Arcadia going might give create a domino effect :shifty:
