I've just discovered that a snare drum stand doubles quite handily as a stand for the keyboard (when I'm sitting down, at least) 8-)

Anyone game for some MP today?

House to myself and just back from the pub and could use some fun whilst I fix a PC here.

Bump.

I err, recorded myself singing some tunes on this with my phone earlier. I wanted to hear what I sound like when I sing. I might upload them later if I like what I hear.

Just bought RB3 and I already love it. Going through career mode and I love the progression that's going on. Some of the songs are a little...dull if playing through solo on guitar, and some are just awful (Faith No More = shite) but its more than made up for with tracks like Roxette's The Look.

That'd be grand! (about the tag thing but you removed it :( )

This isn't my first no. I had Guitar Hero 2 back in the day and got Beatles Rock Band on launch. Currently going through career on Hard and finding it a little easy. I'm not amazing, but after a few goes I can usually hold my own on the Expert setting.

First song on RB3 was I Love Rock and Roll. Sold me pretty much instantly. Not bad for £15. I also have a load of MS Points I need to spend so will be buying some extra songs too.

Nice  You might want to look at exporting the older Rock Bands with your points first as you'll get a good song:cost ratio. It basically makes the songs on each disc into DLC for you to play in future Rock Bands. In your case Rock Band 3.

Page 1 wrote:The Music:
The Rock Band library contains the best bands from around the world, including bands that have never appeared in a music
game previously. Support for existing Rock Band disc tracks (Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Lego Rock Band and Rock Band 3)
along with Download Content and the AC/DC and Green Day Rock Band games.

With new content added daily, Rock Band's gigantic music selection dwarfs that of any other music game on the market.

Band Specific Versions:
In addition to the main Rock Band series, a number of band specific outings have been released. As well as being self
contained games in their own right, the songs on the disc can be exported* to be played in the main games themselves,
boosting your Rock Band soundtrack at minimal cost!

Exporting:
Along with all previous DLC (Download Content), the tracks on each Rock Band game disc can be exported for use in future
Rock Band titles. The songs will be stored on your console's hard drive. Please note that once a game has been exported,
it will be compatible with future titles and does not need to be completed again.
This feature is limited on the Nintendo Wii console.

Below is a list of each disc that's capable of using the feature, along with the cost to export.

  • Rock Band: 400MS Points
  • Rock Band 2: 800MS Points and a unique code (one time use) found on the game's manual
  • LEGO Rock Band: 800MS Points and a unique code (one time use) found on the game's manual
  • Green Day Rock Band: 800MS Points and a unique code (one time use) found on the game's manual
  • AC/DC Track Pack: FREE, but requires a unique code (one time use) found on the game's manual
  • All Other Track Packs: FREE, but requires a unique code (one time use) found on the game's manual

For more information on this feature, please visit the Official Web Page.

And I've added you to the GRcade tag so you can flick through the friends list. Not sure why it got removed from the previous post :?

Ta! So, I'd have to buy another Rock Band, then pay a small amount of point to export all the songs?

Correct.

The original Rock Band doesn't require a code or anything, it just costs 400MS. You can look at the tracklist above by following the link. You could buy a second hand copy, borrow a copy from a friend or rent it if you can find it.

Rock Band 2 requires a code, but not the actual game disc so a lot of people here have contacted EA support to aquire a code for freeso you don't need to buy RB2. The export will still cost you 800MS though once you get a code.

AC/DC is a free export if you get a new copy of the game. It's 18 songs (from memory, follow the link above for the tracklist) and you can normally get it for around £10. You should be able to eBay it after you have the songs copied for almost as much as you paid for it.

Green Day requires the game disc, a manual code (only on new copies) and it cost's 800MS. Same goes for Lego Rock Band.

They've also brought out a number of 'track packs' which contain the standard DLC that you can buy online. These work the same as the AC/DC track pack where it's free to copy them off the disc but you will need a new copy of it to do so. There have been a few classic rock packs and country ones.

Obviously it might not be worth you doing these if you don't like the songs. A standard DLC song will cost 160MS, so you need to like at least 3 RB1 songs and 5 Green Day/RB2/Lego songs for it to be worthwhile.

Really? You enter the code into RB3 like the RB2 code? I swore you had to load up Green Day :o that's good then

EDIT: Just checked the export guide and it is indeed true. You enter the Green Day manual code into the RB3 in game music store! So it's the same method of aquiring the RB2 export for anyone who would want the Green Day songs for 800MS.

Any chance of getting this email, or is it just general EA support? Might give this a try.
