I only have Lego, Beatles, RB3 and RB4 now so can't help with the online stuff sorry! I'm not even sure if the RB1 and 2 and Blitz stuff works online anymore? I'm sure I've seen people report that the servers are down for those games and Harmonix doesn't have anyone on staff that coded the online infrastructure back then to fix it. In the case of Blitz it doesn't work at all (even the single player stuff) as far as I know as it requires server authenitcation for the power ups etc. Either way good luck with it!

Only RB4/Rivals works on XB1 and Series consoles

Been doing a couple of RB1 ranked matches with my brother to tick off the online achievements. Actually ended up matching with a rando last night! I figured he'd also be going for the streak achievements, so I was playing badly to let him get the win, and then he just stopped playing for the last verse or two of the song, so I still won

Matched up with him a couple of rounds later once I'd actually started my win streak, and he ended up quitting before the end. Rude. It was one of the Green Day Rock Band tracks that's two songs smushed into one, so he'd been acing the slow section, and then once the typical Green Day aggressive triplets kicked in he just crumbled, so he quit!

I'd almost forgotten the 360 let you give other players bad feedback :shifty:

I picked up a 360 a month or so ago, with the express purpose of playing Rock Band. Still had all my old instruments and it was much cheaper than buying that controller adapter for the newer systems.

Picked up 1, 2 and Beatles and the only thing that didn't work for them was the music store. So you couldn't buy or download tracks from within the game. I had to go through my 360 account download history, manually re-downloading all the tracks I had from there.

So I would expect that if Epic are shutting down the remaining servers it will mostly affect online play and score tables.

Yeh you should be safe with your DLC and single player stuff. The only Rock Band single player stuff affected would be the mobile like Rock Band Blitz arcade game as it requires an online connection as soon as it loads up.

I'm not sure how the 360 handles content authentication now. It used to be linked to a specific Xbox and you'd have to do a licence transfer and download the content licences again by redownloading your content (it'll just download the licence though and not the entire file don't worry) I would really recommend you try playing your Rock Band songs and any other games/downloads with that 360 disconnected from the internet to make sure you're good for offline play. One day Microsoft may turn the authentication servers off and you'd be left with a doorstop if you haven't got that Xbox setup with the licences properly. If your owned digital games and content works okay then you're safe, if not I can help you do the licence stuff so you will be okay if the day ever comes around.

I'll have a look into that later on I think. Not tried it offline since downloading them.

Pretty sure I did the Licence transfer, but can't remember.

I've just noticed you've got the achievement for playing with a platinum artist - If I played a game with you, would I then get that too? That's the only other online achievement I think I might struggle with :slol:

You would - it just means you've played with someone who did the endless setlist on expert. I'm free for big chunks of this week, drop me a PM if you're about.

The old Harmonix servers are offline now so you'll need to link your Rock Band accounts (which were auto generated in the background) with an Epic account.

If you don't you won't have access to online play, your DLC wishlist or Rivals. Possibly leaderboards too.

You can do that by:

1) click here: https://account.harmonixmusic.com/
2) log in to your epic account via whichever method you use, I used Xbox authentication
3) important bit: you do need to link the platforms you use Harmonix stuff with (Xbox, PlayStation etc)
4) you should now have access to all of the online elements of Rock Band again

Rock Band DLC to end. :(

Hi Friends,

After over 8 years of weekly Rock Band 4 DLC releases, we’re here to let you know that January 25 will be the last DLC release of the RB4 era. All other live services will continue as normal, including Rivals seasons, online play, and everything else.

Working in support of the Rock Band community has been a high point in my professional life - wading through the thousands of song requests we get, working through what songs to pursue and release, it’s all hard work but also really satisfying.

Taking a longer look back, I see the Rock Band DLC catalog as a huge achievement in persistence and commitment - over the years we’ve cleared, authored and released nearly 3,000 songs as DLC and well over 3,000 if you include all the game soundtracks. That’s wild. Many of you reading this own a good chunk of this content and we remain committed to protecting that investment - to be very clear, you can play the songs you own within Rock Band 4 for as long as you like.

Looking ahead, the Harmonix team has been hard at work over the last two years to develop Fortnite Festival, which brings rhythm action gaming (and more) to the Fortnite ecosystem. It’s free to play, we have a rotating selection of songs that you can play (for free) anytime. If you are a fan of the rhythm game category, Fortnite Festival is the place to be; and with support for RB4 instruments coming, this is not the time to hang up your guitars just yet….

We deliberated long and hard about how to frame the last blast of RB DLC of this era. The last two weeks will feature some tear jerkers that sum up our feelings about this moment. We thank you for your commitment to and passion for this wonderful game.

Long Live Rock and Roll,

Daniel

Incredible that they're finishing up the DLC just when they've *finally* announced another guitar controller. I can't imagine that'll win them many fans amongst the plethora of "RELEASE NEW INSTRUMENTS" tweeters on every DLC announcement

It had a good run. Shame Epic have strawberry floated it all up now :( the rotating library worked so well for GH:Live, didn't it?

Damn it was looking like the future was secured again after Microsoft talking up Guitar Hero, the launch of Fortnite Festival, new PDP Fortnite and Rock Band controllers on the horizon and support for legacy controllers in Fortnite.

I was just getting back in to the game the last few weekends and was planning on playing with Sefi online this week!

It's a shame, but you can see from the last year-or-so of DLC that they've been winding right down. Hopefully they go out with a bang next week (re-release Fleetwood Mac! :shifty: ). I'll need to hoover up the last few months' worth of DLC when I have the cash - I'm missing around 60 songs for what will now be a complete library. :(

When you think about it, the run that Rock Band has had is clearly quite incredible. The first game was released in 2007 in the United States, and bar an eighteen month hiatus between the end of RB3 DLC and RB4's release, it has released weekly downloadable content for over sixteen years. The work that has gone into that - especially in recent years when HMX's staff was cut right down - is, frankly, incredible. The apex of rhythm action gaming, for me.

All that's left now is to try and get as many crimson stars as possible. Would be great to break into the top ten of a leaderboard before they inevitably shut them off a few months or years from now.

What a game. I remember importing all the RB kit from the states and buying a PS3 to play it all on (can't remember why I couldn't use the 360 I already had, was it a region lock thing?). Then I had to set up some virtual credit card (Entropay?) to buy DLC.

Every week my mates would come over and we would get drunk and play badly. Sometimes friends would bring their girlfriends, who would always be the first to give vocals a go and then give the rest of us the confidence to have a bash. Probably the last time I really did "couch" multiplayer.

There was even a technician aspect to it, with unpowered usb hubs failing, fabricating reinforcement plates for the kick pedal and sourcing suitable rubber matting to protect the drum heads.

A mate of mine even did some fake "merch" style T Shirts with our band name on. I would be excitedly waiting for every DLC announcement and then letting the others know what was coming next. 2 of us were really in to it, 2 others enjoyed it but were there mainly for the beer.

Doesn't get more rock and roll than that.

They might end up doing a 50% off sale again like the wilderness years between RB3 and 4. I’m a bit gutted because I picked up the last 20 or so DLC tracks last month that I’d ever want :fp:

Just noticed that Lostprophets is an eligible song for this week's rivals challenge? I thought they'd kinda blacklisted it :dread:

Surprisingly not. Not my finest achievement but I'm the current XBox record holder on brutal mode for the vocals on Rooftops. :slol:
