Rock Band 4 includes a whole host of modes (some new, some returning) adding replayability to your music collection. It doesn't matter if you're a score chaser, playing for the music, looking for something impossible, something fun to play together at parties or online with friends, there's something here for you...
Quickplay: play your songs... quickly. Play solo or group up with up to 6 people (3 player harmonies) from one console. Browse the song list, pick your difficulty and play.
Online Quickplay: is a synchronous online multiplayer version of the local player mode. Up to 4 players from different consoles pick a song each and jam out together.
Rivals: is an asynchronous online multiplayer mode. Team up with other players to create in-game groups called "crews." You and other crews will compete in themed challenges each week, where victories or failures contribute to the entire group's success as a whole. (Xbox Live Gold or PSN+ subscriptions not required)
Play a Show: a party shuffle like mode. Play solo or group up with up to 6 people (3 player harmonies) from one console. Band members all get to blind vote for what kind of song they want to play next which is then picked at random from the votes. Sometimes the vote is random (vote for a song that's... a) indie rock b) by Bob Dylan c) from the 80s etc), othertimes it's more specific.
Go on Tour: start out, like every great band does, as a small hometown act. Play solo or group up with up to 6 people (3 player harmonies) from one console and play a few shows. Work with your bandmates to build up your Career and figure out exactly what kind of band you are.
Rockudrama: silly and over-the-top. The new Rockudrama mode gives you the chance to create your band's story, much like VH1's popular Behind the Music series. It combines live-action footage with Rock Band gameplay that creates a personalised "documentary" of your group's rise to stardom.
Brutal Mode: think you're good? Well come and get your ass handed to you in this mode. A customised version of regular quickplay, however the better you play the harder it gets as the notes on the high way begin to disappear.
Missions: whichever way you decide to play Rock Band, complete score and novelty based themed mission challenges. Ranging from getting 5 stars on hard difficulties to saving your bandmate 3 times in one song. These missions are regularly updated with new challenges so even if you've managed to complete every one, there could be more coming shortly...
The Tracklist - 119 Songs covering every decade and every genre!:
Rock Band 4 allows you instant access to your Rock Band music collection. If you've been playing the series at any point during the past 10 years then you can download any previously purchased DLC from the original game, RB2, RB3, Blitz, AC/DC and the other theme track packs, Lego and Green Day games at no additional cost. All of these tracks have been revamped and tweaked for free to include support for newer features such as Vocal Harmonies (first introduced in The Beatles and then brought over to RB3) as well as Guitar and Vocal Freestyling (introduced in RB4).
Even if you're new to the series and don't want to buy DLC, then with Rivals you have access to over 100 songs from artists such as Elvis Presley, Arctic Monkeys, U2, The Cure, Aerosmith, Van Halen, The Killers and many many more!

Controller Compatibility:
Rock Band 4 supports your old controllers going all the way back to PS2 (with new hardware versions available to those who don't have them). Some legacy support requires workarounds and depends if you are using Sony's or Microsoft's console. If you're not sure if what you have works then feel free to ask in this topic.

Reviews: Below are reviews for titles in the Rock Band series.
I'll follow this thread for news but I won't be getting the game. If I had a bone then yeah, I'd be all over RB4 but screw buying all new controllers and DLC for the PS.
HARMONIX ANNOUNCES ROCK BAND 4 HEADED TO PLAYSTATION 4 AND XBOX ONE
Hey gang,
For years you have been asking us the same question: “When will Rock Band return?” For years you have been unified in solidarity with one single demand: “Give us a new Rock Band!” Well, today, my friends, is your day.
“Give us a new Rock Band!” Okay. You win. We’ll do it.
“When will Rock Band return?” Oh I dunno, HOW ABOUT THIS YEAR? 2015!
That’s right. Later this year, Rock Band 4 comes to Xbox One™ and PlayStation®4, and it will support all your previously purchased downloadable content (aka YOUR MUSIC) as we release them on next gen consoles!
We are beyond thrilled to finally announce Rock Band 4 and will be sharing more about the game as the months roll on.
Of course, a new Rock Band on a new generation of consoles means we'll be making new hardware! If you'd like to be notified as soon as Rock Band 4 pre-orders go live, head to RockBand.com/PreOrder to sign up for our special pre-order mailing list.
For Rock Band's return, Mad Catz will be bringing you new instruments to rock out with. For more on that, check out their blog post!
Thank you for your dedicated support, and for sticking with us. We think Rock Band 4 will hit all the right notes with our most dedicated fans, and we look forward to rocking out alongside you later this year! The team is so, so excited to bring you a new Rock Band game. Watch the video below to meet the team and hear about why we're bringing Rock Band back now.
HMXchristine wrote:Q: When is RB4 coming out?! A: Rock Band will be out this year. Stay tuned for more specifics in the coming months.
Q: What consoles is RB4 coming out for? A: Rock Band 4 will be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Q: Why not Wii / Wii U / PC? A: Due to shifting production priorities and capabilities of the studio, we don’t currently have plans to release RB4 on the Wii / Wii U / PC simultaneously with Xbox One and PS4. While we genuinely appreciate the support of Wii Rock band users over the years, and the increased interest from PC gamers, the truth is that we had to prioritize opportunities on other platforms with historically larger RB audiences.
Q: Will my old DLC work on the next gen console of the same type, i.e. PS3 -> PS4? A: Yes! Content purchased from the store or exported from a disc will transfer over to the new generation of consoles at no addition cost as we make that content available.
Q: Will my old DLC work if I bought a different next gen console, i.e. Xbox 360 -> PS4? A: Cross platform DLC compatibility is not entirely within our control, as DLC ownership is managed by the 1st parties.
Q: Will my old hardware work? A: We’re already working closely with Mad Catz, Sony, and Microsoft on solutions for letting you use legacy hardware on new consoles. This is a challenge on both the software side and hardware side, but something we’d love to happen. We’ll have more information on this in the coming months.
Q: Will you be making new hardware? A: Yes we will! You can preorder a new PAX East exclusive guitar if you come by the Harmonix booth! We’re working with Mad Catz, who has a lot of history with RB gear, and we’re excited to get more instruments back into the world.
Q: Will there be any new instruments, i.e. a tuba, accordion, mouth harp, etc? A: We’re concentrating on the core band that people are most familiar with (guitar, bass, drums, and mic) rather than expanding on the types of playable instruments in RB4.
Q: What will the new Rock Band cost? A: Sorry, but we’re not talking about pricing at this time.
Q: What instruments will be playable? Wiill RB4 have Pro guitar and keys? A: Rock Band 4 will focus on the core experience and the roots of the franchise – guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. There will be no Pro Guitar or key support in Rock Band 4. We will continue to support “Pro” mode for Drums.
Q: What are the new features? A: We’re not quite ready to reveal the evolutionary features of Rock Band 4, but we’re excited to show you in the coming months how we’re expanding the core gameplay you love.
Q: Will you be bringing back [Random Feature X]? A: We’re not quite ready to reveal the feature set of Rock Band 4 yet, but keep posted for more info!
Q: Will you have songs by [Random Band X]? A: We’re not talking about the disc soundtrack just yet, but you can bet it’ll be awesome. Over 2000 songs spanning over 500 artists already exist in Rock Band catalog and we’re committed to expanding that and supporting the game post-launch with DLC, and we’re always looking for new bands and sounds, so keep the suggestions coming! Let us know what you want at RockBand.com/request
Q: When will you have more news about RB4? A: Soon! Keep posted to our social channels and the Harmonix forums for updates.
Q: When can I preorder RB4? A: You can sign up for preorder notifications right now at RockBand.com/preorder!

I was obsessed by Beatles Rock Band - bought the big boxset with the drums etc, plus 2 additional guitars, so I had all 3 Beatles guitars. It was a great game - much better presentation than the other Rock Band games.
They've been stashed in the attic for the past 4 years...maybe they'll come out again after all.
Glad I decided to go for the PS3 version, as opposed to the 360 version at the time, as I only have a PS4 now.
Havent been for years. They have moved too as the old pub got problems with crossrail. Bloke hacked his xbox so transferred over all the guitar hero songs too. I should go along and see what that like
Changed my avatar to the official one after asking them nicely on twitter.
