Really hope we see a Rock Band 5 in the next couple of years.

RB4 bombed pretty hard man, I wouldn't count on it too hard sadly.

1000 gold? nice!!

Congrats buff! The sense of progression in this game is the most rewarding of any game I've ever played I think. Hard guitar next? I struggle on hard/expert guitar and I genuinely enjoy the bass parts more so I tend to stick to that part.

Just owned, not gold. I mean, I'm on 979 or something so I just have to go through the songs I've bought, but even still. Goal for next year is to expand the collection by a lot more - I suspect we'll start seeing some songs hit the end of their licensing deals again quite soon.

Yeh they seem to get delisted quarterly but I'm not sure there's been any for a while except for the Rock Band 3 export (I think that's still live on Xbox even though it shouldn't be)

It's been 5 years since Rock Band 4 was released so it'll be any of that era now and the RB1/2 era that survived their first 5 year deal and are now approaching the 10th year.

Yeah this is my thinking. We're not a million miles from the first year's worth of DLC coming up on its 15-year relicensing in 2022.

Hey guys, I have a question about Rock Band DLC. It's been a constant source of frustration for me that Lego Rock Band came out during my student years and I missed out on the chance to import the songs from L:RB to RB2 or 3 because I was broke as all hell at the time. It has recently occurred to me that XBox gameshare could feasibly see me able to download additional, delisted material. If I were to persuade someone who has Lego Rock Band, and/or other delisted material* to do gameshare with me, would I then be able to access the Rock Band stuff?

*As it happens, I was gifted a hard drive full of RB downloadable content from someone who doesn't need it anymore some time ago that does contain a few delisted songs(Gay Bar and Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight being the highlights), so this is an actually pertinent question. :slol:

EDIT: Also, I recently passed the 1000 gold star, full combo mark on RB4. The song that took me over the line was, appropriately, I Wanna Rock by Twisted Sister.

Yeh game sharing works. I do it with my girlfriend.

If you can get the person who owns the content on that external drive to add their account to your Xbox an set it as their home, then all of their content/subscriptions are available to you to download/use. Likewise you can make their console your home Xbox and reciprocate.

The "home Xbox" option is under a weird heading in the settings, it's under personalisation for whatever reason: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbo ... fb1?auth=1

The method is slightly different on game sharing on Xbox 360 but still possible.

Thanks for the info man, much appreciated. Now I just need to find someone who has Lego Rock Band imported and fancies sharing their content with me! I'm assuming it can't be done with more than two accounts?

No problem. If I wasn't already account sharing then I would have given you my details.

Yes only one console can be set to "home" at any one time, allowing all of that accounts purchase history to be played online and offline by any Xbox account. The content owner will also be able to use the content on any other device that's not set to home, but those devices need to be online and if at any point you lose your online connection you will temporarily lose access to the content on the account until you can sign in again.

You can't assign certain purchases to a console, its all purchase history or nothing.

You can change your "home" console on Xbox One/Series so many times (5 or 6 off the top of my head - I imagine it refreshes after a period of time). On Xbox 360 you can do it once every 365 days.

You can have a "home" Xbox One/Series and a "home" Xbox 360. So in the case of legacy 360 content, you can actually have 3 different Xboxs using the account content
  • (1) a "home" Xbox One/Series offline or online with any Xbox account
  • (2) a "home" Xbox 360 offline or online with any Xbox account
  • (3) on any Xbox console with the purchasing account (online only)

You can have multiple accounts have the same console set to "home", if you had more than one person/account wanting to share the content on the same Xbox

Thanks for the information man! I’m pretty desperate to get the Lego Rock Band stuff back even if it’s just for a brief run at the tunes to remember what they’re like.

If anyone else fancies hooking up with my account, I can offer 1,040+ songs, many of which have also been delisted (Metallica, RB 1-3, etc).

What do you need from me? Could we be able to play the tunes together online?
LRB is legit the best set list out of them all.

You've got RB4 don't you? I think we could play them together online yeah, and be able to access stuff while the other person is playing. Reading into what BID0 has said, I think we'd need to log in to each other's accounts, download any and all DLC that you want, then log back into your own account and ensure that you're connected to live whenever you want to play the other person's stuff. Basically as long as the account is on the XBox, and the XBox is online, the content should be available?

Yeh you need to give each other the email address and password for your Microsoft account(s) that has bought the content you're sharing. If you have bought content on multiple Microsoft accounts like some people do then you need to share those accounts as well to access the content on those ones.

Once you have each others account information...

  • STEP 1: add the opposite persons account to your Xbox that you want the content to work on using the email/password credentials that they have provided. You might need to get a one time password from the opposite person if they have Multi-factor Authentication set (this is usually sent to the account holders phone by SMS or secondary email address and they are often time sensitive so a second code may be needed if you take a few minutes to enter it)
  • STEP 2: when adding the opposite persons account to your xbox you'll have (from memory) 3 password requirement options, I recommend setting "needing a password" for each log in on this console out of respect of the opposite person - you don't ever need to log in again once you've followed the next step and requiring a password prevents you or anyone else using the console accidentally signing it and mucking up the other persons account/saves/puchases
  • STEP 3: Follow the How can I designate an Xbox One console as my home Xbox? checklist here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbo ... fb1?auth=1
  • STEP 4: You can log out of the other persons account now, you don't need it anymore but do not delete the account off the console - I think it may remove the steps you just followed above
  • STEP 5: In the case of Rock Band 4, when "managing game" you should now see the other persons content available to download for anything you haven't downloaded yourself. Likewise in the game library you will now see the other persons games pop up to download. You also will be sharing any Gold/Game pass subscription if the other person has it.

Also it should be pointed out if you use this Microsoft account for emails, office etc then you are basically giving them the key (when handing them the password) to access all this stuff too on a computer etc. I really would only recommend doing this for someone you trust (you both are top guys from my experience).

It's the safest to do this in person where you enter your own details on the other persons Xbox so the password can remain secret.

It's also possible to change the email address your gamertag is linked too. So it might be a good idea for you both to do this step so you are sharing a dummy email account, protecting your main one. I've changed the email address before but it was about 12+ years ago so I'd need to look this up again if this is something you're interested in.

Sharing accounts is also against ToS usually, but I haven't read a story where Microsoft has taken action on this.

Thanks man, that is pretty much what I was thinking and how I understood the process to work. I know quite a few people who use the Game Share and I'd be fairly surprised if MS were to take action on it unless Buff used my Gamepass Ultimate to download 50 million games or something(which tbf, I have no issue with. Knock yourself out).

For what it's worth, the e-mail address my gamertag is linked to has been all-but defunct since 2005(I got the account in 2003 for the original XBox). It's literally only used for logging in to live at this point.

But yeah, if you're up for it Buff drop me a line. Totally understand if it's not for you though!

I think usually account sharing warnings in Terms of Services usually are to protect the service provider (in this case MS) from people claiming their accounts have been stolen or have a £500 purchase bill because they gave their password out to others. MS won't really care in this case.

If you both get stuck then we could do a group chat on Xbox and walk through it, but it's fairly straight forward to do.

Ben I’ve got you on Facebook I think so we can live text/chat through it. PM me when you’re ready.

Nice! I'll be adding pretty spectacularly to that over the next few months as well hopefully. I tend to buy based on what I'm gonna find challenging on vocals at the moment though so I dunno if much of that will be good.

Found my absolute vocal nemesis in Sir Psycho Sexy last night. I mean...strawberry floating hell.
